Journey of Lives Through a Mobius Strip

A simple Mobius Strip made using a strip of Paper

Almost everyone might have watched a scene in the Avengers Endgame movie where
our beloved Tony Stark does some calculations with a Mobius Strip (basically, trying out
eigen values of particular decomp on it) and some stuffs, which we don’t understand
easily.

Mobius Strip is basically a strip of paper or any other element which when twisted half
and joined together at its end becomes a loop which has no ending point. If an ant (you
can try it with your hand) starts moving from one point on the strip, it will cover both
sides of the strip without actually crossing any edges of the strip at any point of time and
reaches back to where it started. What a lucky ant, isn’t it?

This seems to be an interesting concept. Design of Mobius Strips has been into existence
from very old times. We can see their presence in paintings, sculptures, etc from the

oldern times. It’s also quiet interesting to see that, the journey of lives of common people

like us can be considered as a movement through a big mobius strip. We’re basically
striving forward through the mobius strip called as life.

Our journey starts from a point on the mobius strip (like the ant which we discussed
about earlier). Over the course of time, we moves forward in the available path in front
of us. We will pass through a lot of happy and sad moments which may or may not effect
us. We move through various ups and downs in our lives, hoping that we will over come
them someday soon.

We know that, we can’t travel back in time to change what we did in our past, even the
things which we did 5 minutes earlier. But, life is an unstoppable loop of incidents.

After a lot of sufferings and hardwork, we will ultimately reach a point at which we

experience happiness and success. This usually happens over time and we wouldn’t have
chnaged anything drastically like jumping across the strip. This point of success can be
connected to a case where we’re at the opposite side on the mobius strip. Consider the
case where Ryan was at position x on the strip which was above the surface. He
experienced a lot of difficulties when he was at that position. By the passage of time, he
overcomes everything and reaches a position just opposite to that of the earlier. He’s
now at the position -x on the strip (bottom surface).

There wasn’t any jumping of edges. It usually happens with passage of time. This can
also be associated to the case where some one living happly can end up in difficult
situations without jumping the edges.

At last, it’s sure that everyone will reach the starting point where all of us were not
existing(or not born). Whatever happens in our life, we should strive forward. Success is
definite even if we don’t find it in the near future. We can always connect this point with
what Steve Jobs said earlier :

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in
something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will
connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads

Even if you’re facing any hardtime, remember that you’re travelling in a mobius strip and
you will find success soon. And once you look back from that position, you will
understand why life was “the way it was” for you. Keep trusting in yourself and keep
moving forward.
