Application for the Extension of Time

In reference to the above mentioned and in accordance to the provisions of the contact
agreement governing this project, we are hereby applying for the extension of time for the said
contract with a revised completion date of 27th September 2022.

We are required to furnish the Client with written notice of the reasons leading to the delays of
the execution of the works. The principle reasons behind this request are under technical and
can be detailed as follows;

1. International Procurement

Most of the materials required to be procured internationally because the few locally available
do not have proper documentation of the technical specifications as per the requirement of the
project. Therefore, the process of contacting the suppliers and acquiring the necessary
technical data sheets for the approvals took longer than we had initially anticipated.
Additionally, fabrication and shipment of the materials have been taking longer than we had
estimated in our initial programme of works. Therefore, delaying the arrival of materials on site
thus delay of the progress of the works.

2. Variations and Additional Works

Due to the rehabilitation nature of the project, we had been issued a total of 9Nos. variation
orders to date for the previously unforeseen additional works to the project. Most of which are
in the critical path of the project progress and necessitated execution prior to the works
stipulated in the contract. Such variations include but limited to the following;
- Floor build-ups to the existing units - Variation Order No. 001

- Change of floor levels House A and House B - Variation Order No. 003
- Underpinning columns for the mud jointed rubble walls House A - Variation Order No. 005
- Rehabilitation to the out-of-scope units - Variation Order No. X01

It is our intention to complete the project deliverables within a reasonable timeline. However, it
is indeed impractical to complete the project within the stipulated time.

In lieu of the above, we hereby request for an Extension of Time of at least 4 months to our
current programme of works considering the aforementioned conditions for the delays. The
practical completion date will change from 21st of May 2022 to 27th of September 2022 and
the contractor wishes to do so without additional cost.

Attached with this application is the revised programme of works and the schedule of
