4. How often do you use your Internet service and when do you usually use it?
5. How much do you pay per month for your Internet service, and do you think
the cost is reasonable?
6. How do you think your Internet service could be improved?
Xem đáp án
 4. On average, I use the Internet about twice a day. Normally I go online before breakfast and then
in the evenings at home.
 5. I’m not sure exactly how much we pay per month because my parents usually pay the Internet
bill. I think it’s about $25 a month. That seems quite cheap to me.
 6. Sometimes, the service slows down and that can be quite frustrating. It gets especially slow
during busy times like weekends and in the evening. It can be annoying if I’m using the Internet to
play online games or download MP3 files. It would be better if your Internet service could be fast
all the time.

4. Where do you usually get the news, and how often do you check this news
source?
5. What type of news is most interesting to you and why?
6. What is the most impressive news story that you have seen or heard recently?
Describe this news story.
Xem đáp án
4. I usually get the news from online websites. I like to look at these websites at
least two or three times a day.
5. I prefer to read about international news because I think this is the most
important kind of news. It affects everyone.
6. Recently I was very impressed when I read a news article about robot
technology. I thought it was amazing that companies are building robots right

could own a robot within 20 years. This news was very informative as well as
fascinating to me.
Question 4: How many grocery stores are in your neighborhood, and can you
walk to them?
Question 5: What’s the best time of day to go to the grocery store, and why?
Question 6: Do you usually buy all your groceries from the same store? Why or
why not?
 Câu 4: There are several grocery stores near my residential
area. It takes only a few minutes to go to those stores, which
is super convenient for me to get some stuff whenever I need
it.
 Câu 5: To me, morning is the most ideal time of day to head towards the
grocery store. Because the earlier we go to the grocery store, the more
likely we are to get fresh food.
 Câu 6: Absolutely not. I often change the store where I buy groceries in
order to buy high-quality products at a reasonable price. All groceries in
one store sometimes can’t meet that requirement.

Do you have many books at home?

As I am an avid reader, I have spent all my savings on books. That is why
you can easily find a large book collection arranged neatly in the book case
in the living room of my house.
How often do you read books?
Reading has become my habit, and I read books on a daily basis. A book of
any kind is a must-have item in my bag when I go somewhere as it can be a
good activity to make good use of waiting time. Also, it is hard to imagine a
day without something to read before bedtime.

What was your favourite type of books as a child?

Just like other kids, comic books were my favorite when I was
a little girl. I still remember how excited I was when I flipped
through the colorful pages and got lost in the world of my
favorite comic characters.
Avid reader: người thích đọc sách
Topic 2: Describe a book that you would like to read again
Okay so I would like to tell you about the book called Harry Potter, which is a
fantasy novel, written by the British author J. K. Rowling. It’s one that I can
reread time and time again.
The book describes the life of a young wizard named Harry Potter and his two
best friends, Ron and Hermione. Harry has to struggle to kill the Dark wizard
Lord Voldemort, whose aim is to become immortal and destroy all those who
stand in his way of ruling the world.
The reason why this book comes to mind is that it is a reminder of my
childhood. It was a gift for my birthday from my parents to reward my high
score in an exam at school. Up until now, I can still remember clearly how
fascinated I was when I received it.
Thanks to this book, I realized that determination and effort play essential roles
in achieving my goals. Since then, I have always worked hard to overcome all
obstacles and challenges in my life.
Harry Potter will always be on my to-read list for a number of reasons. Firstly,
I have always been a great admirer of science fiction books so I
love the way that the author describes the whole magical world
with the magic school, Hogwarts, and the flying brooms.
Secondly, reading this book not only helps me to relax after a long
day of work or study but also cheers me up whenever I am feeling
blue.

enhance one’s knowledge, and learning is a process of a lifetime.
For that reason, people of all ages still read books.

4. Where do you like to read?

A quiet space is always my go-to choice when it comes to

reading. I usually read books at the most comfortable
corner of my house – my bedroom. Besides, reading in a
book cafe with soothing music is also a good option.
 go-to choice (noun phrase): lựa chọn số 1

hay.

Yes, definitely! I think seeing the world, from great historical monuments to
white sandy beaches, is what life is all about. It’s a very interesting way to learn
about new cultures and explore new places.
Ex: What is your favourite type of holiday?
I really like going to the countryside, getting away from it all. Nothing relaxes
me as much as wilderness… I am tired of tourist traps and usually go off the
beaten track…
Ex: What do you do on holidays?
I prefer visiting various museums and places of interest. For instance, on my
last vacation I went to Rome and I visited 12 museums. It was fantastic! Of
course, sometimes I go shopping with my friends or relatives too… But I don’t
find it near as exciting…
Ex: Are there many tourists visiting your country?
Probably yes… My country has different tourist attractions in many cities,
especially the capital… For example, my country has old-time religious
traditions… That’s why we have a lot of ancient cathedrals and churches that
are interesting for both tourists and local citizens…
(4) What is your favorite way to spend a vacation?

(5) What did you do on your last vacation?

(6) What do you think is a good way for a family to spend a vacation and why?

(4) Who was the last person who visited you from out of town, and were they
interested in tourist activities?
(5) If a tourist asked you for a dining recommendation, what would you tell

(4) How many times per week do you do exercise?

(5) Where do you usually go to exercsie?

(6) How important is it for children to take part in sports or regualar physical

education in school? Why?
Well-versed in child development, PE teachers ensure that the curriculum
consists of age-appropriate activities that support growing minds and bodies.
They will adapt lessons to make them appropriate for their groups and ensure
that they do not overwhelm children with skills or requirements that may be too
advanced. At the same time, they know when students are ready to be pushed.
PE improves motor skills and increases muscle strength and bone density,
which in turn makes students more likely to engage in healthy activity outside
of school. Furthermore it educates children on the positive benefits of exercise
and allows them to understand how good it can make them feel.

Do you like playing sports?

Well, I think I’m a big fan of sports. Although I’m not good at it, but my
favorite one is swimming. You know I can often meet new people and make
friends when I do sports. And as I think that, you know, practicing a sport
regularly does wonder for my health. It keeps me in shape, it helps to relieve
my back and neck pains. And last but not least, it refreshes my mind after a
long day of hard work.
2. What sport are popular in your country?
Well, I guess in Vietnam right now, it’s football. I think football is considered
the king of sports. It’s very easy to play. All you need is just a ball, a few
friends and two goals, which you can always make or create by marking the
ground with, you know, a piece of clothing or bags, for example. And I think
it’s a competitive sport, it can be very enjoyable to watch and play.
3. Do you think it is important to play a sport?
Of course. I think it’s essential for everybody to take up a sport,
because, you know, as I mentioned before. Playing sports brings great
benefits to your health. It helps to lower the risk of modern diseases
such as diabetes, obesity and heart attack. Anyway, at the end of the
day, your body is the only place you’ve got to live, right? So I think
you’d better take good care of it.
4. What sport would you like to try in the future?
Well, there are many sports that I would like to have a crack at,
but if I have to choose one, that would be climbing. You know, I
have always dreamt of climbing Mount Fuji, which is the highest
peak in Japan. I can’t imagine myself reaching the summit and
getting to admire the breathtaking view of the scenery below.
That would be absolutely amazing and I’ll be on top of the world.
 to be a big fan of something (=like something)
 to do wonder for: có lợi cho
 to keep sb in shape: giữ cho (cơ thể) ai cân đối
 to relieve pain: làm giảm đau
 to refresh one’s mind: làm thư giãn, làm mới đầu óc
 the king of sports (n) môn thể thao vua
 competitive (adj) có tính cạnh tranh
 to take up something: bắt đầu làm gì
 to lower the risk of something: làm giảm nguy cơ
 to have a crack at ( = to try ): thử cái gì
 can’t imagine oneself doing something: không thể tưởng tượng được ai
làm gì
 breathtaking (adj) rất đẹp (mô tả khung cảnh,…)

Part 1
1. Do you like sports?

Yes, I’m really keen on sports. I hit the gym club on a daily
basis and have my personal trainer help me reaching my
fitness goal. By taking part in some activities at the gym like
running or riding bicycle, I also refresh my
mind and recharge my battery.
 Hit the gym club (v.ph): Đi tập gym
 Personal trainer (n.ph): Người huấn luyện riêng
 Reach my fitness goal (v.ph): Đạt được mục tiêu thân hình cân đối.
2. Do you often watch sports on TV?
To be honest, watching sport is not really my cup of tea because I find it
rather boring. Moreover, as I’m always busy with my work and study, I spare
my leisure time to pursue other interests like listening to American music or
going shopping.
 Cup of tea (idi): sở thích
 Leisure time (n): Trận đấu trên sân nhà
 Pursue other interests (n): Theo đuổi
3. What is the most popular sport in your country?

In my country, football is the most common sport activity and

it acquires its reputation for The King of Sports. Two teams
will defend in a football pitch, try to take possession of the
ball, pass it to the teammates and aim to score a goal. They
also try to avoid injuries and booking. People prefer football
than any kinds of sports because of the animating atmosphere
it brings back.
 Acquire its reputation for st (ph.v): Nổi tiếng về cái gì
 Football pitch (n.ph): Sân bóng
 Take possession of the ball (ph.v): Giữ bóng
 Pass to (ph.v): Chuyền bóng cho
 Score a goal (ph.v): Ghi bàn
4. Do you prefer watching or playing sports?
Absolutely I’d prefer engaging in some sport activities rather than to
sit in a dump place to watch others having fun. Firstly, playing sports
helps us to keep fit and stay healthy. Secondly, it also enhances
people’s competitiveness to win a match. Finally, I believe that
sports also teach us about discipline to play fair and how to cooperate
with other people to blow a competition away.
 Keep fit (ph.v): Giữ cơ thể cân đối
 Win a match (ph.v): Thắng
 Play fair (ph.v): Chơi công bằng, chơi đẹp
 Blow a competition away (ph.v): Chiến thắng cuộc thi
5. Are boys and girls interested in the same sports?

Obviously there are outstanding differences in the sports

activities that both genders are keen on participating in. For
boys, they are into some strenuous sports like volleyball,
badminton to build up their strength and muscle. However,
girls are big fans of some relaxing activities like yoga or
ballet to get into shape and stay healthy.
 Strenuous (adj): Căng thẳng, đòi hỏi nhiều năng lượng
 Build up their strength and muscle (ph.v): Nâng cao sức mạnh và cơ
bắp
 To be a big fan of sb/ st (n.ph): Là người hâm mộ lớn của ai/ cái gì
 Get into shape (ph.v): Có thân hình đẹp
6. Do you often exercise?

I used to be a couch potato, but then I gain a lot of

weight, making me unable to put on any of my favorite
clothes. And this had pushed me to hit the gym every day
to lose the pounds. I has stuck with it for about few months
now and the result is so amazing! I can be confident with my
body again now.
 Gain a lot of weight: tăng nhiều cân
 Hit the gym: đi tập gym
 Lose the pounds: giảm cân
7. How do you exercise?
When going to the gym, the very first step that I need to take is to do some
warm up by stretching, bending over and doing jumping jack. After this
stage, I will work out very intensely with some exercises
like deadlift or squat, which can put my muscles in pain for the first few days.
 Do some warm up: khởi động
 Stretching: dãn cơ
 Bending over: cúi gập
 Do jumping jack: bài tập bật nhảy
 Work out very intensely: tập luyện nặng
8. Will you exercise in the future?
Yes, definitely. I will take up football, which is the type of sport that I have
always wanted to try. I’ll start it by practicing controlling the ball with my
legs, and then I will find a friend who plays semi-professionally and ask him to
teach me in more details. If I do well with it, maybe I will join in a local football
club.
 Take up (a sport): bắt đầu một môn thể thao
 Controlling the ball: đập và kiểm soát bóng
9. Do you know anyone who exercises?
Yes, one of my friends is a semi-professional and he has been playing for the
local football team. He has had a great passion for the ball since we were both
chidren and he goes to mini-stadium to play with his team every week. I have
to say that I learn a lot from his persistence.
 Semi-professional: vận động viên bán chuyên nghiệp
 Have a great passion for something: có niềm đam mê với cái gì

(5) How often do you shop for music, and do you have a large collection of
songs?

(6) I'd like to buy some new music. Could you recommend a place for me to
shop for music and tell me why you recommend it?

1. Do you like music?

Of course yes. Listening to music is part and parcel of my daily activities and I
cannot imagine my life without music. Listening to music is an excellent way
to unwind after a long working day.
 part and parcel of something /ˈpɑː.səl/ (idiom): một phần tất yếu
2. What is your favourite music?
I’m a die-hard fan of R&B and pop music.  And I’m fond of listening to the
singers of this generation like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. Their music is
simply the best!
 die-hard fan (noun): fan cứng
 fond of something /fɒnd/ (adj): thích
3. Where do you often listen to music?
I usually listen to music at home. It’s the coziest place for me and I love being
at the comfiest corner of my house, my bedroom, listening to hundreds of songs
with the earphones.
4. When do you often listen to music?
Well, whenever I have some spare time, I turn on some music to
relax. I usually listen to cheerful music when I need motivation
whereas sad music is my go-to choice when I’m in a bad mood.
 spare time /speər/ (noun phrase): thời gian rảnh
 go-to choice (noun phrase): lựa chọn đầu tiên
3. Do you play any kinds of musical instruments?
Due to my total lack of rhythm and the fact that I am tone deaf, I would not
even consider embarrassing myself with any attempt to play a musical
instrument. On a related subject, on the rare occasion that I attempt to sing a
hymn in church, along with everyone else.
4. How do you feel when you listen to this music?
Listening to music makes me feel at peace when I need to relax. Certain types
of music, like Lofi, also help me concentrate when I'm working. I need to listen
to upbeat music while exercising as well. It pumps me up and motivates me to
push through a hard workout.
5. What kinds of music do you like to listen to?
My music taste varies widely from West to East and from the 90s to modern
EDM. But if Korean pop is considered as a kind of music, then yeah, that’s my
favorite of all time. More than half of my playlists are Korean songs and I
always keep myself updated with the news related to Korean showbiz.
6. How much time do you spend listening to music every day?
As I’ve mentioned I prefer working in silence. To put it simply, no music is
allowed during my working hours. After a long day at school, I probably want
to pump myself up for like half an hour with music to help me stay energetic so
I can get back to work later.
7. Do you like any foreign celebrities?
Absolutely. The person that I have had a soft spot for is Miley Cyrus. I guess
most people at the same age as me grew up with Disney Channel and among its
successful series, Hannah Montanah starring Miley Cyrus would always be on
top of my list. Although now she’s grown up, I’m still a big fan of her amazing
voice and highly inspiring songs.
8. Would you like to become a widely-known celebrity? Why?
Well though I’ve never thought about it, I’m pretty sure that rising to stardom
would never be one of my life goals. I appreciate all the efforts that celebrities,
no matter which field they’re working on, are making every single day.
However, I find myself not belong to that world, I mean, you never know
what’s going on when the curtains close, right? So yeah, I don’t think I want to
become a global superstar, to be honest.
Các cụm từ cần ghi nhớ
 keep oneself updated with: bắt kịp với xu hướng gì
 pump sb up: làm cho ai vui lên
 have a soft spot for: thích cái gì
 stardom(n): sự nổi tiếng
(4) Where do you live, and how long does it take to travel from your home to
work or school?

(5) What is one of your favorite places for entertainment in your area, and
how often do you go there?

(6) Which of the following factors would be most important for you when
moving to a new location? Why?
 Access to public transportation
 Access to natural areas
 Access to shopping and restaurants

4) What is your favorite type of movie?

(5) When is the last time you streamed a movie, and what streaming service
did you use?

(6) How do you choose what streaming service to use?

1. Do you like watching films?
Absolutely! They are an excellent way to unwind. Moreover, my friends are
really into films. So it’s a fun, relaxing way to spend time together. Afterwards,
we discuss and debate the film that we have just watched. Apart from just
relaxing and enjoying the film, I like to delve deeper to discover the
subliminal messages.
2. Do you prefer foreign films or films made in your country?
Since my country doesn’t have a huge film industry, I’ve always been really
into American films. Not to knock film industries, but American ones are
incredibly entertaining and well-made, the evolution of film continues to amaze
me. Moreover, I only watch films in English so it helps me to learn new slang
and expressions.
3. How often do you watch films?
Well, I am quite a busy bee, but I manage to see about one or two films a week
at home. After a long day of studying, I love snuggling up on the sofa and
watching a film to unwind. I tend to do this on Friday and Sunday evenings with
my friends.
4. What kinds of movies do you like best?
Well, I would say I’m still a kid at heart, so I really enjoy watching kids’
movies. Although they seem simple and innocent, there are often many life
lessons packed into these films. Moreover, I’m really into drama and historical
movies. When I watch these, I feel that I can more deeply understand human
emotions and relive historical moments, like the Vietnam - America War or
World War II.
5. Do people in your country like to go to a cinema to watch a film?
I would say so. Since people like to go out with their families on the weekends,
this is often an activity that they would choose. Moreover, teenagers enjoy this
activity as a way to get out of the house. Furthermore, it’s often a popular date
option for many people!
6. How often do you go to a cinema to watch a movie?
Not too often actually. As the prices in my country are quite high, I usually opt
to watch a movie at home instead to save on costs. Actually, I think it’s kind of
a waste of money to see a movie at a cinema when you can watch it from the
comfort of your living room. I only go when a friend invites me, which is
maybe 4 times a year.
7. Do you like to watch movies alone or with your friends?
Both! On one hand, I find it extremely relaxing to chill out and fall asleep to a
film by myself, but it’s also enjoyable to have company. So, all in all, I prefer
films with friends, since they are also into films. Afterwards, we can discuss the
meaning and carry on inside jokes from quotes from the film later on!
8. Would you like to be in a movie?
Not one bit! As I have stage fright, I would never have the guts to do it.
Secondly, I feel awkward when I try to act and I have the memory of a goldfish
so I know I could never memorize my lines! All in all, acting is simply not my
thing.
9. What’s your favourite movie?
Well, I can’t choose one, I’m torn between Million Dollar Baby and The Pursuit
of Happiness. Both are inspirational films that left a good impression on me.
The former is starred by Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, and Hilary Swank
that depicts determination to achieve one’s dream, betrayal, and hopelessness,
while the latter talks about courage and success that’s perfectly portrayed by
Will Smith.
10. What kinds of movies do you think young people like?
I suppose Marvel movies are what most young people enjoy because these
oftentimes create a buzz online every time there’s a new movie release. Just like
last time, young people went crazy when Black Panther, The Avengers, Captain
Marvels,.. had their premieres and most cinemas were packed that made those
movies blockbuster.
Describe a tourist attraction you once visited. You should say:

 When you visited it

 Where is it situated
 Who you went with
and say what about it you like the most

A couple of years ago I went on a holiday to Paris with my parents… it is a very

popular tourist destination, since it has various places of interest, such as ancient
museums and monuments… That’s why there are always hordes of tourists… So
we decided to go out of season in the autumn… Fortunately, the weather was great,
and we did not waste any days watching TV at the hotel… it was a memorable
holiday … we enjoyed breathtaking views from the top of the Eiffel tower and
dined in cozy little restaurants. I would certainly recommend visiting Paris, it is a
picturesque city.

1.3 Part 3

Why do you think tourism is so developed now?

Well, because it is a lot easier to travel nowadays… you can choose charter flights
and find various youth hostels all around the world, so you don’t need to spend
much money on the travelling. Moreover, you can book a trip via the Internet, so
you don’t even have to leave home.

Ex: How people choose their destination?

There are a lot of ways. For instance, you can surf the internet for all the necessary
information… Or you can visit different travel agencies for more advice.

Ex: What kind of transport do you prefer on holidays? Why?

It depends… I usually reach my holiday destination by plane because it is the

fastest and the least dangerous way to travel. However, flying can be a bit
uncomfortable… So I also travel by train from time to time… But I never drive car
on a vacation, because I do it every day when I work… I would have a busman’s
holiday otherwise.

Ex: Do you prefer travelling alone or in tour groups? Why?

I definitely prefer travelling alone because I like to plan the trip by myself… When
choosing a guided tour, you should always conform to a set schedule… So if you
are in India and, say, you want to spend an extra hour at Taj Mahal, you simply
cannot do that with a group tour… I like independent travel. That way I get to see
and do exactly what I want and spend as much time as I want at various stops.

Ex: How often do you see your friends?

As often as I can… We enjoy each other’s company, so we see each other almost
daily… What’s more, we live very close to each other, so it’s easy for us to meet
up.

Ex: Is there anything special about your friends?

Oh, that’s an interesting question… I guess there are lot of things… For instance,
my best friend can draw unbelievable arts, good enough to sell. And my other
friend is really keen on cooking… But most importantly, they are people, who are
near and dear to my heart.

Ex: For how long do you know them?

I’ve known my friends since my childhood… We’ve been through thick and thin

I would like to talk about my friend William… I wouldn’t say he’s my best friend,

sports centre. It turned out that we were studying at the same college… Then,
miraculously, I got into the same class with him and we got on like a house on
fire… He’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met! He’s smart, helpful, caring, funny

computer age and it’s impossible to ignore cutting-edge technology.

Ex: How often do you use Internet?

I use Internet every day… It helps me with my studies and it entertains me when

Web for communication purposes… Though I don’t like social media like
Facebook, I often use video conferencing for talking.

Ex: Do you own a computer? If so, how often do you use it and for what
purposes?

Yes, I have a personal computer and a laptop… I use my laptop mainly for
education… It is very light and fits in my bag easily, so I take it with me to
school… Meanwhile, my PC has a large screen and convenient keyboard, so I use
it for word processing and browsing websites. It is an old, but still well-oiled

needed… From browsing websites to reinstalling the operating system… What’s
more, without my laptop I wouldn’t be able to do my homework for the
university… Also, I use it for surfing the Internet and finding whatever I want,
whether it is a piece of code for my project or a useful tip on how to cook a steak…
Generally, my laptop became an essential device for me…

3.3 Part 3

information you need…

Ex: What is the most impactful piece of technology in our lives?

In my point of view, the Internet is the most important technological advance of

wireless networks at home and public Wi-Fi hotspots we can do it easily and
almost everywhere.

Hmm… in my opinion, using computers in the classroom is very effective. I think

it is important for students to become competent in the use of computers to prepare

teachers the opportunity to introduce students to the variety of information on the
Internet.

sports centre with the latest fitness equipment… It has everything you would ever
need to keep fit: treadmills, various dumbbells and exercisers for different muscle
groups. Moreover, it offers a wide range of different classes for every taste… I
developed my own strength-building strategy, so usually I start with a short warm-
up when I jog on the treadmill for a few minutes to sweat… Then, I go to the
weights sections and start doing lifting exercises… Finally, I end my workout with
stretching… I try not to miss my trainings, because they help me to relax and
forget about the daily routine.

brisk walk every day… It is better to avoid strenuous exercises for the first couple
of months, so powerlifting is definitely out of the question…

Ex: Why some people enjoy sports more than others?

It is a tough question… I would say, the main reason is it’s hard to find your
perfect kind of sport… if you don’t like football or basketball it doesn’t mean you
won’t enjoy cricket, for example… It’s important not to fear trial-and-error method
and you’ll inevitably find your ideal sport.

particularly love their pasta… It is very versatile food, and can be made in many
ways… I general, I love Italian food because it is all about fresh, flavorful
ingredients… That’s why I eat in that restaurant every now and then with my
family and friends… Although it’s not cheap, its quality justifies the bill…

5.3 Part 3
How can we make people eat healthier food?
The best approach for this problem is to strike a balance between junk food and
healthy food… You can eat unhealthy ever so rarely, if you manage to eat
nutritious products the majority of the time… I eat junk food myself, by I try not to
abuse my health…

Do you think people enjoy what they eat on a regular?

hunger… But it is neither healthy nor enjoyable…

Do you think that cooking is a pleasure a burden for most people?

I can’t speak for everybody, but I think that cooking is more of a chore than a

those people… Personally, I prefer dining out.
