You have received an email from your English-speaking pen-friend John, who is planning
to come to your country for a one-week holiday.

Hi! How are you doing? I’ve got one week free this summer and I’d really like to spend
my time touring around your country. How can I get to your house from the
airport?.Another thing, I will also need somewhere to stay – but not too expensive, of
course. Everyone says that food in your country is the best, so if you could have free
time, would you take me on a street food tour or travel around with me ? It would be
great if you could.

GROUP 1:
Hi John,
Sorry, I can't reply to your email soon due to the time zone difference. I am very
happy to hear that you will be visiting Vietnam this summer, so I am pleased to
introduce some interesting information about my country. When you get to off
Tan Son Nhat the airport, you can take a taxi to my address. which I will send it to
yousend to you soon. About finding somewhere to stay, i think you should stay at
my home because it’s free and you are a foreigner so itthat is very so hard to find a
cheap hotel.
About the food in my country, my mom will let you enjoy the traditional food of
Vietnam. Beside that, in the evening, I will take you on some there are a lot of
street food tours, which have a lot of much cheap and delicious food. And of
course, you and my family will travel around the city and enjoy it together. and try
it all.
Furthermore, my country also has beautiful scenerysights and a lot of historical
sites heritages. I will take you to visitvist them and historical sites. Then I will tell
you about my country’s culture and explain the meaning of each place.

Hi John,

It’s been a long time since I saw you. I am really happy that you are going to come to my
country to travel this summer. I have a lot of things to say with you but we can talk about
it when you stay here. To move to my house after getting to Tan Son Nhat airport, you
can go by bus or taxi . I think you should take a taxi because it's comfortable and
convenient instead of going by bus. I know a hotel near my house where you can stay for
during a week. It is quite cheap and convenient for you. Last summer, my relatives also
stayed used to be there and their feedback was good.

Moreover, my country is famous for its tasty local food. There are a lot of restaurants that
serve service traditional specialty dishes such as: Pho, banh xeo,..... I promise I'll help you
try all of them because it's delicious. Besides, there are many interesting things that you
need to explore in my country. People in my country are very friendly and kind. They are
ready to help you when you are in trouble.

Smoking is considered highly dangerous to our health because it impacts the

smoker and the people around them. Therefore there should be some strict
controls about smoking in public places. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own
knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words. Your response will be evaluated in terms of Task
fulfillment, Organization, Vocabulary and Grammar.

Group 1:
Smoking has inevitably been a concern of governments around the globe considering how
to manage and educate smoking people. This is due largely due to the danger of the
substance contained in the cigarettes, nicotine.
So I agree with this point. There should be some strict controls about smoking in public
places because of the harmful effects of smoking.
First, we all know about the harmful effects of smoking. It is generally agreed and even
proven with scientific studies, that smoking is injurious to health. Health problems that
smoking can induce are numerous. Cancer is among the major detrimental effects of
smoking on one’s health. As it is rightly displayed on the cigarette packets , smoking is
one of the primary factors leading to cancer.
Second, smoking will waste the family budget. Cigarettes are heavilyis heavily taxed. In
addition, when you smoke you will become addicted and have to depend on it. So people
they have to pay a lot fora for cigarettes very much. In many developing countries, where
people work on daily wages, the habit of smoking has an great atrocious impact on their
quality of life. In the majority of the mediocre families around the world, smoking drains a
significant part of their family budgets.
Though the public ban on smoking is an individual constraint to one's freedom,
considering the passive effects of smoking I would strongly agree to win the ban. In my
view, this would be a punitive measure to safeguard the health and wealth of the public
or the society.
Group 2:
Over the past few years, smoking has become a broad issue in many nations. Some
people believe that smoking is considered highly dangerous to our health because it
impacts the smoker and the people around them and there should be some strict controls
about smoking in public places . I strongly agree with this opinion. In this essay, I am going
to discuss the reasons for that.
First, smoking directly affects people's health. It is the cause of cancer which kills many
people. In addition, it also impacts people around them when they breathe the smoke.
For example, I have read that children who grow up in the homes of smokers are much
more likely to have frequent colds and other respiratory diseases. Besides, it is reported
that more than sixty percent of Korean women who currently suffer from cancer have
been affected by second-hand smoking. It is revealed they have at least two heavy
smokers in their family.
Second, The amount of carbon and other toxic elements exhaled into the atmosphere by
smokers has a significant reached a high level of its effect on the environment. There are
reasons why I agree that controlling smoking is the efficient way to protect non-smokers`
health.A nominal fee might be charged from the smokers to discourage their smoking
habits.
Finally, I strongly support such a rule to impose ban on smoking in public places in order
to avoid detrimental effects on the health of common people knowingly.
