The intelligence section develops a debriefing plan to capture information related to the patrol's specific requirements and any additional observations. The plan includes debriefing all returning patrols, leaders, intelligence teams, aircrews, and others who obtained information. The intelligence section debriefs personnel, who then write or verbally submit reports. Debriefings are required after every mission as part of the intelligence briefing, and missions are not complete until reporting and debriefings occur.

The intelligence section develops a complementary debriefing plan.
The debriefing plan captures information related to the specific information requirements the patrol was to collect and any additional information and observations the patrol made concerning the operational environment. It also collects any fliers, pamphlets, media, or pictures the patrol found or obtained. The plan should include all returning patrols, leaders who have traveled to meetings, returning human intelligence collection teams, aircrews, and others who may have obtained information of intelligence value. The intelligence section debriefs personnel. Debriefers then write and submit a report or reports information verbally, as appropriate. The requirement for a debriefing by the intelligence section following each mission should be a part of the intelligence mission briefing. Leaders should not consider the mission complete and release the personnel until the reporting and debriefings are done. (FM 2-0) (USAICoE)
