1. Based on the top ten global issues and the 17 Sustainable Development
Goals (SDG) for 2015-2030, choose one (1) global issue /SDG and give
suggestions on what schools must do to address the issue.

Based from the top ten global issues we are facing today I think the poverty and
unemployment are the most evident. It sounds like it is the main root cause of all
the other issues. And in relevance to these two issues are the keys from the 17
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which are Goal No. 1- To end poverty and
Goal No. 4-Quality Education for all. I know it might not be easy to address these
problems but I think the schools have a bigger role in order to at least minimize the
cases of poverty and unemployment. If there is quality education apparent in each
school in our country, literacy rate would increase and, in that concept, we can
produce educated individuals as well as competent individuals to work for our
country. Many people will be employed in different sectors or different kinds of work.
In that way, we can boost our workforce as well as our economy. As an effect, we
can lessen the poverty among all other Filipino families. We must help hand in hand,
the government and the school in order to attain these goals. Only education can
liberate us people from poverty.

2. List down at least 5 global issues most applicable to the Philippines and
research on Philippine laws meant to address the problem.

1. Inequality (Income, discrimination)

2. Poverty, Unemployment
3. Graft and corruption
4. Lack of education
5. Lack of economic opportunity and employment

3. What is meant by SCHOOL-COMMUNITY partnership?

School-Community Partnership refers to a relationship between two these parties
(the school and the community). Both parties work together in order to attain a
certain goal and benefit from each other. This means that schools can do something
for the community and the community can do something for the schools in return.
Since the school cannot do it all, it has to work in partnership with other institutions
in the community. In that way, the concept school-community partnership was
created to function together for the benefit of the young and the society.

4. Can schools take the place of families in the rearing of children? Why
or why not?
Like the saying that goes, “Learning starts from home”. This depicts that the family
or the home, the parents are the responsible for rearing the child in accordance to
the standard of the society. Nevertheless, I think schools can eventually take place
of families in nurturing the child. Since a child spends more time at school, they can
learn more about the concepts of society at school. But, in our current situation
today due to the global problem which is the pandemic, it is very hard for the school
to nurture the child due to the new way of learning which is the blended learning
which I think is not that effective to learn. So, I must say that in our society today it
is a challenge to rear or nurture a child since they are not immersed in the actual
learning environment. Now, it’s the family’s primary obligation to educate and fulfill
the fostering the child’s cognitive and psychological development.

5. Cite at least three (3) examples of school-community partnerships that

benefit the young.

The three examples of school-community partnerships that can benefit the young:

1. Curriculum development- this enables the young to learn outside the box,
they can study the local history as well as use the community resources for learning.

2. Work experience programs- this allows the students to be immersed in the

actual work environment. This gives us the opportunity to be hands on in the work
relevant to our future courses or even future work. We can be prepared in the
competencies, ethics or values that will equip us when we join in the world of work.

3. Youth Development Programs- this program can nurture the young one’s
skills and talents, it can develop the innate abilities within us and would help us to
learn in dealing with peers and adults as well as on how to become assets or
resources in our respective communities.
