BSTM 1 MACRO PERSPECTIVE IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

ACTIVITY 1 INSTRUCTOR: DR. JULITO V. MANDAC

1. Describe your experience/s in any of the destinations either domestic or international. State your
satisfaction and dissatisfaction in your experiences.

Ans. My experience in domestic destinations has been very satisfying and I have not encountered any
dissatisfaction. The place I have been to, [place name], is a place where I am able to do my daily activities
without any obstruction. The place is clean and safe as well.

My experience in international destinations has been very dissatisfying and I have encountered many negative
experiences. My first international destination was in the state of [state name], which is located in Mexico. This
state is known for its beautiful beaches and resorts, but it also has a high crime rate. When I went there, it was
during the summer season so there were many people around me who were also tourists. There were some
people who were drunk and some who had drugs on them when they got robbed by others at night. It was also
hard for me because I didn't speak Spanish very well at that time so it was difficult for me to communicate with
other people there since most of them did not speak English fluently either.

My next destination was in France from where I went to Paris again because I wanted to go back there again but
this time without any troubles or difficulties because the city is famous for its architecture and cultural sites like
Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre

2. Write down your Travel plan for 5 years. State your purpose and your explanations!
Ans. I am planning for 5 years to travel around the world. My purpose is to explore different cultures and
meet new people from all over the world. I will be traveling with my wife and my daughter, who is 4 years
old.

Explanations of this plan:

- I want to see different countries, cities, cultures and people of different religions to understand their
values, traditions, way of living and language.

- I want to see how people live in different countries by experiencing their food, culture and traditions.

- I want to learn new skills that will help me in future career like cooking or driving car but also other
languages like Chinese or Arabic which are difficult for us Americans.

- It is very important for us Americans because we need more skills in life than just reading English books
only!
