Highly experienced Rig Management Team 
Our team is very experienced in GustoMSC, Samsung and DSME designed Deep Water Drill Ships and have for 
instance carried out the Operations Management of DP Drillships “Pelerin”, “Pelican”, “Petrel” (all GustoMSC 
design) offshore Brazil for Petrobras, offshore East Canada, West Africa, the Mediterranean, South East Asia, 
India, Far East, etc..for various customers, as well as we have been advisers in purchasing the drillship “Aban 
Abraham” (ex‐“Pelerin” ‐ GustoMSC design), inspection and technical assessment, preparation of upgrade 
scope of work, supervision of the upgrade work at shipyard, provision of management and senior crew for 
operations with Kosmos Energy and Anadarko in Ghana and Ivory Coast, then with Petrobras in Brazil. We also 
assisted Etesco to prepare and start the operation of the “Peregrine 1”, another Gusto design drillship, 
including the implementation of a computerized preventive maintenance system, as well as the successful 
implementation of a certified ISM and ISPS system. 

Forum Services key personnel experience with GustoMSC date back from the 60’s. At that point, the IHC‐Gusto 
group was a shareholder of Foramer, where most Forum Services key personnel is coming from. Based on the 
first ever DP Drillship operation in 1966 with the vessel “Toucan”, key personnel of Forum Services and Gusto 
cooperated to develop the “Pelican” class DP Drillship in 1972, bringing together our drilling operations 
experience, and Gusto ship design and construction experience. Twelve DP Drillships were later constructed 
per the “Pelican” design. Later in the 90’s we continued to cooperate with Gusto to develop the Gusto 
10000/P10000 design. Again, a very efficient drillship design conceived from the beginning as an integrated 
deepwater drilling vessel, with some storage option for the P10000 version. We then constructed the first two 
Gusto 10000 drillships at Hyundai Mipo shipyard: the “Pride Africa” and “Pride Angola”, and managed their 
operation offshore Angola. These vessels were the basis from which the subsequent Gusto 10000/P10000 
drillships were constructed. 

We have a history of smooth integration with customers and partners, taking into consideration their existing 
culture and history, and will not impose our own view as the one and only way to implement things, but will 
gladly transmit our operational experience to ensure that all operations will be executed under the highest 
safety and quality standards. 

Forum Services execute Drilling Program as per Clients Specifications and we shall be recognized as the most 
competent independent Manager.

General introduction 
Forum Services was created in April 2004 by Thomas Duhen, to provide expertise services for the 
offshore drilling business, for construction and operation of offshore drilling units.  
Previously, Thomas Duhen was Vice‐President of Engineering and Technical Support at Pride 
International, after having held several operational, marketing & sales, technical and management 
positions in various countries for a total of 24 years.   
Forum Services started with a group of highly qualified key personnel with long experience, previously 
from Pride International and Foramer. It is good here to recall that Foramer was the first drilling 
contractor to operate a Dynamically Positioned drillship, the “Toucan”, This lead to the conception 
and the design of the “Pelican” class drillship, including the construction and operation of 4 of this 
units by Foramer, from a total of 12 units of this design built.  
Later, Foramer and Pride developed a new generation of DP drill ships capable of operating by 
3,000m of water depth. These units were the first to use AC driven fixed pitch, variable speed 
thrusters on a drilling unit. These units allow introduced the concept of “dual handling” allowing 
handling of tubulars in parallel, in the background of productive drilling time. Two units were built 
and operated by Pride/Foramer.  Thomas Duhen had overall responsibility for the design, the 
construction, the commissioning and the operations start up for these units.

Forum Services has already successfully served several companies in moving into Offshore 
Drilling services:  

• Aban Offshore, from shallow water offshore drilling contractor to deepwater offshore 
drilling contractor. Assistance in purchasing the drillship “Aban Abraham” (ex‐“Pelerin”, ex‐
“Peregrine 3”), inspection and technical assessment, preparation of upgrade scope of 
work, supervision of the upgrade work at shipyard, provision of management and senior 
crew for operations with Kosmos Energy and Anadarko in Ghana and Ivory Coast  

• Etesco, from shallow water offshore drilling contractor/FPSO Manager to deepwater 
drilling contractor:  
o Assistance in preparing proposal to Petrobras bid for the provision of an 
ultradeepwater drillship. The bid was successful. Prepared bids documents for shipyard 
selection for the construction of the vessel. Negotiated construction contract with 
shipyard, supervision of construction of the vessel “Takatsugu” at Samsung shipyard in 
Korea, preparation of commissioning procedures.  o Shipyards audits and selection 
for the construction of deepwater well intervention/workover semi‐submersible unit. 
Recommended Dalian shipyard. Negotiated construction contract with shipyard. Was 
retained as one of the two members of the “Steering Committee” during the 
construction of the unit to monitor the progress of the construction  
o Provision of senior drilling crew for drilling operations on “Aban Abraham” 
drillship in Brazil for Petrobras (Etesco as Manager, Aban Offshore as Owner). o
Implemented computerized preventive maintenance system o Assisted in obtaining 
ISM certification as self‐propelled drilling units manager  
(ISM certification of the base supervision, and for each vessel)  

• TMT, from shipping company/tanker company into a deepwater drilling contractor. 
Developed the scope of work and specifications of the first drillship to be constructed at DSME 
(Daewoo) in South Korea, under a new design. Designed the drilling package on first unit, that 
became the standard design for all future drillships constructed at DSME. Took over the 
continuation of the construction of 4 jackup units at PPL Shipyard in Singapore.  
• Vantage. Acted as Technical Department of Vantage Drilling upon its inception as 
deepwater drilling contractor with TMT as initial major shareholder. Continued the 

 
 

supervision of the construction of the first drillship at DSME and the four jackups at PPL. 
Prepared and executed commissioning procedures.  

• Sinopacific. From builder and manager of supply boats and tankers into a deepwater 
drilling contractor. Developed the specifications and scope of work of a new generation of 
drillships to be constructed and operated by Sinopacific in partnership with Forum 
Services. Developed all construction, commissioning and operation procedures  

• TSC. From drilling equipment manufacturer into constructor of premium jackups, into 
drilling jackups operations by a new company “Forum Drilling Services”, a Joint Venture 
between TSC and Forum Services
