LTE B41 RRH8x20-A (UZHB) Installation Manual About this document
• Metric sizes of nuts, bolts, flat washers, and lock washers are identified by an
uppercase letter M followed immediately by a size in millimeters (example: M10)
• American fractional sizes of nuts, bolts, anchor bolts, and washers are identified by a
number followed immediately by a double apostrophe (example: 3/8"). In the case of
lengths measured in feet, "2 feet" is used rather than "2'" so that the single
apostrophe is not overlooked.
The illustrations in this document do not contain all details and exceptions, but are rather
intended to highlight main points. Dimensions are usually shown in millimeters, with
inches in parenthesis. As an example, 680.0 (26.77) equals 680 millimeters or 26.77
inches.
Wire gauges are specified in metric units. Equivalent sizes in the American Wire Gauge
(AWG) system are given in the following table.
Standard cross-sections and wire diameter of round copper conductors
The following table is from CEI/IEC 60947-1:2004, Table 1, Standard cross-sections of
round copper conductors and approximate relationship between mm2 and AWG/kcmil
sizes for reference. Additional wire sizes are included in this document as appropriate for
the topic.

Procedure
1 If a boot or cold shrink tubing will be applied for additional weatherproofing, slip the
weatherproofing over the RF cables at the RRH chassis.
2 Torque each RF connector at the RRH to 5 Nm (44 in-lb).
w Hold the body of the connector below the coupling nut with a pair of soft jaw pliers to
prevent torsional rotation of the cable while applying torque.
3 If weatherproofing is being used, finish its installation according to Apply weatherproofing
to connectors at RRH chassis or other instructions that came with the weatherproofing.
4 Secure the RF jumper cables along their route.
5 Inspect site for loose tools, materials, and parts. Remove all such loose tools, materials,
and parts.
6 Verify that all the exterior conduit and cable connections are secure.
Applying weatherproofing to the connectors may help extend their life by protecting them
from corrosion.
Types of weatherproofing
There are three typical weatherproofing methods:
• a boot
• cold shrink tubing
• butyl tape (a weather-proofing kit is available from ALU, comcode 300275484)
Follow the procedure below for the chosen type of weatherproofing or consult the
instructions that come with the specific product chosen.

10 Reapply labels as needed.
g Note: These instructions are for the ALU supplied weatherproofing kit. Unlike with
ordinary butyl tape, neither the traditional “courtesy wrap” of vinyl tape under the butyl
tape nor the top wrap of vinyl tape over the butyl tape is necessary since the elastomer
medium in this tape will not flow under high temperature conditions.
Procedure
1 Peel back the release paper to reveal the butyl backing. Begin wrapping in a counter-
clockwise direction (opposite direction as tightening) starting three inches below the
connector by laying down the first two inch length of Fast-Wrap, butyl side down, without
tension.

2 Apply tension to the Fast-Wrap so its 2” original width is reduced to about 1.5” and
continue wrapping the connection while overlapping rows at least 3/8”. Be sure to
maintain consistent tension. Be careful not to loosen the connector while wrapping. The
tension inherent in the tape will tend to tighten the connector over time, not loosen it.
3 Continue wrapping up to the RRH chassis. Terminate the wrap by laying down the last
two inches of length without tension.
t Tip: Allow the last two inches to hang freely for 10 seconds to insure there is no
residual tension. This will ensure permanent adhesion of the trailing edge.
4 Reapply labels as needed.
