LTE B66a RRH4x45 (UHIE) Technical Description Product Overview
Description/Parameter Specification
Total RF output power 180 W maximum total RF output power across all ports
Per port RF output power 90 W maximum on Tx ports 1 and 2
45 W maximum on Tx ports 3 and 4
Per carrier RF output power Maximum power for each carrier by bandwidth:
• 5 MHz carrier
– 40 W maximum at 2T
– 20 W maximum at 4T
• 10 MHz carrier
– 90 W maximum at 2T
– 45 W maximum at 4T
For example, assume a dual carrier configuration with a 5 MHz carrier on Tx ports 1 and
2 and a 10 MHz carrier on Tx ports 3 and 4. The 5 MHz carrier at 2T is limited to 40W
because of the carrier bandwidth and the 10 MHz carrier is limited to 45Wbecause it is
on ports 3 and 4.
As another example, assume a dual carrier configuration with two 10 MHz carriers at 4T.
The limit on the maximum total RF output power restricts each carrier to 22Wbecause
each carrier will put out 22Won each of the four ports (2 carriers x 22Wx 4 ports = 176
W).

Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OA&M) LTE B66a RRH4x45 (UHIE) Technical Description
5.1 OA&M
Overview
The following defines high-level and unique OA&M aspects for the B66a RRH4x45.
Operating Status
The B66a RRH4x45 product reports operating status to the base station using the CPRI
connection at the B66a RRH4x45 that connects to the BBU of the base station. The
CPRI link is the main OA&M connection to the BBU. The External User alarm interface is
used by the B66a RRH4x45 to determine the status of user equipment alarm contacts.
Alarm status is forwarded by the B66a RRH4x45 across the CPRI link to the BBU.
Alarm Reporting
The B66a RRH4x45 manages and report alarms to the base station. During startup,
hardware/fault failures are automatically detected and reported to the base stations. All
active RF devices, including all RF power transistors (including peaking transistors) are
monitored during start-up as well as during run-time operation.
g Note: It is recommended that the LED only be disabled after the B66a (AWS 1-3+)
Remote Radio Head 4x45 installation is complete since the LED provides valuable
information regarding unit health and CPRI-connectivity during bring up.

Do not view directly into the laser beam with optical instruments such as a fiber
microscope because viewing of laser emission in excess of Class 1 limits significantly
increases the risk of eye damage.
Never look into the end of an exposed fiber or an open connector as long as the optical
source is switched on.
Ensure that the optical source is switched off before disconnecting optical fiber
connectors.

Antenna exposure
Antenna installations for the B66a RRH4x45 shall be performed in accordance with all
applicable manufacturer's recommendations, and national laws and regulations related
to human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields. To ensure correct
antenna installation, the antenna installer shall perform all necessary calculations and/or
field measurements to evaluate compliance with applicable national laws or regulations
regarding human exposure to RF electromagnetic fields. The supplier of radio
equipment, the supplier of antenna equipment and the integrator and builder of the site
must provide sufficient information so that the limits of the exclusion zones can be
determined. Any changes to the antenna or other equipment in the transmit path may
require re-evaluation of the exposures to electromagnetic fields.
Pursuant to 47 CFR Part 1, Subpart I, subject to the provisions of section 1.1307, all
installations must be evaluated for requirements contained in Table 1, “Limits for
maximum permissible exposure,” in section 1.1310.
1. Antennas should be placed sufficiently away from possible human RF exposure in
order to meet FCC guidelines.
2. When placing the antennas, please be aware of FCC 47 CFR sections 1.1307 to
1.1310 and FCC guidelines for public safety (for example, OET Bulletin No. 56,
Questions and Answers about Biological Effects and Potential Hazards of
Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields and OET Bulletin 65, Evaluating Compliance
With FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure to Radio frequency Electromagnetic
Fields and its supplements).
3. FCC requirements mandate maximum power density at location of possible
exposure to be below 0.5 mW/cm2 (5 W/m2) at B13 frequencies (750 MHz) for
general population/uncontrolled exposure and 2.5 mW/cm2 (25 W/m2) at B13
frequencies for occupational/controlled exposure. Exposure is averaged over a 30
minute time period for general population/uncontrolled exposure and over a 6 minute
time period for occupational/controlled exposure. RF exposure is assessed based on
calculation methods defined in international standards, such as IEC 62232.

Appendix: Product conformance statement LTE B66a RRH4x45 (UHIE) Technical Description
is the power density in W/m2 and is used to define the RF exposure limit
– R
is the distance between the point of investigation to the center of radiation of the
antenna in m
– EIRP
is in W and EIRP = (Power input to the antenna in W) × (Numerical gain of the
antenna)
Losses of all components between the equipment transmit port and the antenna
shall be included in EIRP calculations.
• This formula is mainly valid at far field distances from the antenna and provides an
over estimation of the compliance distance in the near field. More accurate
assessment can be performed using methods defined in IEC 62232.
When the B66a RRH4x45 is set to transmit at 120 W with no cable loss and using a
typical antenna of 16.4 dBi gain with a horizontal beamwidth of 70°, a vertical beamwidth
of 9.5°, and a downtilt of 5°, the following compliance distances should be considered:
• For occupation/controlled exposure: 3.3 m in the main lobe in front of the antenna
and 1 m on each side of the antenna
• For general population/uncontrolled exposure: 9 m in the main lobe in front of the
antenna and 3.7 m on each side of the antenna
The RF output power and EIRP of the B66a RRH4x45 may have to be lowered in indoor
applications in order to reduce the RF exposure level near the antenna. Final
calculations shall be performed by the installing activity for the specific antenna used and
installation configuration.
f CAUTION! laser
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified
herein may result in hazardous laser radiation exposure.
Do not view directly into the laser beam with optical instruments such as a fiber
microscope because viewing of laser emission in excess of Class 1 limits significantly
increases the risk of eye damage.
Never look into the end of an exposed fiber or an open connector as long as the optical
source is switched on.
Ensure that the optical source is switched off before disconnecting optical fiber
connectors.
