Connecting System Module (FSIH) core cabling Cabling Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS Indoor
f Make sure the main site switch is in the OFF position before you connect the DC power
cable.
The power cable must be connected before power is applied to the system.
Procedure
1 Remove the rubber caps from the DC terminal if they are in place.
2 Loosen the screw terminals of the DC in port on the FSIH front panel using a TX20
screwdriver.

4 Insert the DC power cables to the screw terminals and make sure that the polarity of the
wires is correct.
Figure 3 Inserting DC power cable
Connect the wires to the V48N- and V48RTN+ connectors according to the markings
on the cable.
f Check that the polarity is correct according to the markings on the cable.
5 Tighten the screw terminals to 2.2 Nm (1.62 ft-lb).
Make sure that the DC power cable is not bent to the left or right in order to avoid
tension to the DC input terminals.

Cabling Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS Indoor Connecting System Module (FSIH) core cabling
1. 0 - 13 km (depending on the RF HW version, the values might vary as follows: 0 - 10
... 13 km)
2. 13 - 26 km (depending on the RF HW version, the values might vary as follows: 10 ...
13 km or 20 ... 26 km)
The RF Modules must be connected to the System Module with a fiber from the same
length range.
Note that in case of RF chaining, the optical cable length from the System Module to any
RF Module in chain must remain in the same length range. In case of RF Modules
chaining, the length range is the total optical path length between the System Module
and the last RF Module in chain.
See Contents of the Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS optical cable deliveries and Contents of the
Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS optical transceiver deliveries for supported cables and optical
transceivers.
f Make sure that the laser beam is switched off when optical cables are installed.
f Always stop transmission before detaching the optical fibre from an optical fibre
connector marked with a warning triangle.
w NOTICE: Overbending the optical fibre cables damages the cables and can detach or
damage the connectors. Do not bend optical fibre cables to a radius smaller than the
minimum radius of 70 mm (2.76 inches) for cables with diameter 7 mm (0.28 inches) or
50 mm (1.97 inches) for cables with diameter 5 mm (0.20 inches).
w NOTICE: The optical fibre connector is fragile. Handle it with care.
w NOTICE: Optical cables are fragile. Always route the optical cable to the direction it is
bended.
g Note: When using two or three parallel optical fibres per RF Module, the difference in
lengths between the cables must not exceed 30 m.
w NOTICE: If a SFP module is hot swapped a site reset is required.
w NOTICE: Always connect RF Modules using their OPT1 port to the consecutive master
System Module ports, starting from RF1 port.

f Make sure that the laser beam is switched off during optical fibre installation.
w NOTICE: Only Nokia proprietary SFPs (see chapter
Small Form-factor Pluggable transceivers (SFPs) in Installing Flexi Multiradio Base
Station and Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station Optional Items Description) must be used
for all optical connections (both single mode and multimode) to connect System Module
and Radio Module. Any exception to this rule requires a written product management
approval.
Procedure
1 Remove the protective cap from the optical transceiver and push it in the EIF1 port.
Once the optical transceiver is inserted, flip the latch up.
