OCCUPIED BED- it is a bed made with a patient in it.

PURPOSE:
1. To make the bed so it is safe and comfortable.
2. To provide exercise for the patient and thus stimulate circulation.
3. To observe the patient’s condition.
4. To save the energy of the patient and the health staff.

GENERAL CONSIDERATION:
1. Before starting procedure see to it that all things needed are on hand.
2. In removing bed linens care is taken not to let it come in contact with the uniform or the
floor.

Materials:
● Same as in closed bed.

1.Explain the procedure to the patient.
2.Provide privacy.
3.Loosen all bed times.
4.Roll the soiled bottom linen toward the
center of the bed and the wall under the
patient.
5.The clean linens are placed so that one half
of the bed can be made.
6.The patient is then rolled over into the fully
made part of the bed.
7.Remove soiled linens and the clean linens
are pulled through tightly. The bottom of the
bed is then completed.
8.Move the patient toward the center of the
bed and the top of the bed made.

AFTER CARE OF THE PATIENT:


1. Adjust bed to meet need of the patient.
2. Leave patient comfortable.
3. Leave unit in order with room well ventilated.

AFTER CARE OF THE MATERIALS:


1. Discard soiled linens in the laundry hamper or laundry chore.
