1. Discuss the different protocol types and why each one is important.
a. Network communication protocols - enable two or more devices to communicate
over one or more networks.
b. Network security protocols - secure data to provide authentication, data integrity
and data encryption.
c. Routing Protocols - enables routers to exchange and compare information as
well as select the best path to the destination network.
d. Service discovery protocols - used to automatically detect devices and services
on a network.

2. Explain the role of protocol functions in facilitating network communications.

The role of protocol functions in facilitating network communications is to allow
different networking devices to communicate with each other. They are used for both
analog and digital communications. It can also be used for important processes ranging
from transferring files between two or more devices to access the internet.

3. Explain why protocol suites are important and why TCP/IP is the primary suite for
today.
Protocol suites is a collection of protocols that are designed to work together in
order to perform communication functions, otherwise known as Internet Protocol Suite, is
the most common and relevant protocol used today. The TCP/IP is an open standard
protocol suite which is maintained by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is an
open standards organization, which develops and promotes voluntary Internet
standards, in particular the standards that comprise the Internet protocol suite.

4. Discuss why open standards are important.

Open standards are important for vendors and manufacturers because it allows
the people to use the protocol suite for their hardwares and softwares.

5. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a standards-based protocol and a

proprietary protocol.
Standards-based protocols are published as open protocols so it may be
included amongst a wide range of devices. It can be used by multiple individuals rather than a
specific person or company. Furthermore, standards-based protocols offer a higher degree of
networking flexibility with more integration options between existing and new gear. However, in
terms of security due to technical information being disclosed to the public, it allows individuals
to easily access and control remote monitoring networks.

6. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages using a layered model.

The advantages of using a layered model is that it assists in protocol design,

fosters competition between vendors, prevents a technology that functions at one layer from
affecting any other layer, provides a common language for describing network functionality and
helps in visualizing the interaction between each layer and protocols between each layer. The
disadvantages are difficulties in fitting a new layer into the model, defining protocol, duplication
of various layers and the interdependence among layers.

7. Discuss why the models are vitally important to networking.

Models are vitally important to networking because they provide a starting point
or base for determining what must be done to enable communication as well as further the
understanding of how systems use protocols to connect with each other. In addition, models
assist in troubleshooting problems.

8. Why is it important to learn OSI model. List down components in each layer of the
OSI.
The importance of learning the OSI model is to guide vendors and developers
who create digital communication products and software programs to be able to interoperate
and facilitate a clear framework that describes the functions of a networking or
telecommunication system.

9. Discuss the importance of segmenting the data stream and having the ability to
multiplex/interleave traffic.
Segmentation is important because data networks use the TCP/IP protocol suite
to send data in individual IP packets that contain segments sent through different paths.
Multiplexing enables people to transport signals to a single medium as well as reduce the
physical hardware cost for expensive dedicated network communication segments, such as
copper or fiber cables.

a. Present the parts of the website (main page etc) at anong laman ng bawat links
(Descriptions, profiles, rentals)
- The main page contains a navigation bar with the logo of the business as
the home button, products and rentals. Underneath is a manual slideshow
of different video game banners, followed by buttons for best selling and
discounted products. Below is a gallery of clients and a list of links for
more information about the business and the owner.

Under products are video games, figurines and consoles/equipment for
sale. Each category for products and rentals has a table that contains the
thumbnails, names and the prices of the products.
b. Purpose of the website
- The purpose of the website is to assist our friend Kienth, Reyes with his
retailing business. This website sells video games for Playstation 4,
Figurines, and consoles/equipment. It also shows video games and
consoles/equipment for rent.
2. 2. What tools/platforms are used in making the website?
a. PROGRAMMING - the text editor used was notepad++ to create the files for the
website.The language used was html, css, java script.
b. Graphic Designs - Adobe Photoshop was used to edit the images needed for the
website while Adobe Premiere Pro was used to edit the recordings for the video
presentation of the whole website.
3. Exit - This video presentation is submitted to Eric Blancaflor in partial fulfillment of the
requirements in IT130L: Web Systems and Technologies 1 Laboratory.
