PREFACE
The internship manual has been prepared to assist the Angeles University Foundation
College of Engineering and Architecture students, practicum coordinators and industry
partners in the conduct of the Practicum/Training program. The College of Engineering and
Architecture, in its commitment to prepare the students for an Architecture careers and
Engineering careers in the field of Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Computer
Engineering all in-coming fourth-year students are required to enroll in Practicum/Training
Program on the summer term prior to the academic year. The program will permit them to
work and be exposed to projects that are being undertaken by private companies and
government agencies.
The department involved shall identify companies and government agencies suitable
for the training program. Every in-coming fourth-year student for the following academic
year shall be assisted by the designated practicum coordinator in identifying a company or
government agency that can accommodate the student as a trainee. Training programs also
serve as a venue where students earn experience in career positions relevant to their choice
of academic degrees as well as open up other future career choices towards gainful
employment.

In order to effectively evaluate the internship program, it is essential that faculty
internship coordinators, student trainees and the immediate superiors of the student trainees
complete the appropriate evaluation forms that are included in this manual. This will help
the college to evaluate the student intern learning experiences as well as the internship
program as a whole. All feedback coming from the students, internship coordinators and
industry partners will be taken positively and will serve as a basis in the college effort for
the continuous improvement of its internship program.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The ECE Practicum/Internship (ECEOJT) program is designed to provide students
with a learning experience outside the classroom. Specifically, it aims to provide the
students with the following:
 To provide students the experience of seeking potential Practicum/Internship host
 To provide students the experience of being interviewed by potential
Practicum/Internship host
 To provide the students opportunity to integrate theory with actual practice
 To provide opportunity for students to work with industrial practitioners
 To develop skills in communication, management and leadership
 To develop self-discipline and professional culture
 To expose students to different professionals and potential employers
 To provide students the opportunity to experience industry equipment, industry
practices, and other things which may not be available at the university.

INDUSTRY PRACTICUM/TRAINING PROGRAM
Duties and Responsibilities of the Training Coordinator
A faculty coordinator shall serve as the representative of the College. He or she will be
tasked to accomplished the following:
1. Prepare the student-trainees for off-campus work through a series of orientation,

consultations, meetings, conferences, and lectures.
2. Determine the expected program of activities of the student-trainees.
3. Organize with the Department Chair regarding the selection of the cooperating
company/agency based on the following:
 Geographical location of the company/agency.
 The field of specialization in which the student-trainee is to practice.
 The company profile of the cooperating company/agency.
 The presence of excellent supervisors who can provide the best mentoring to the
student-trainee.
4. Coordinate with the cooperating company/agency regarding the activities and needs of
the student-trainee relative to his/her chosen field of specialization.
5. Conduct regular observation and evaluation of the performance of the student-trainee in
their practicum program.
6. Coordinate regularly with the head/supervisor of the cooperating company/agency
regarding the progress of the performance of the student-trainee.
7. Report to the Dean’s office, through the Department Chair the following:
 Progress/performance reports of the student-trainees.
 Problems/difficulties encountered by the student-trainee.
 Solutions/actions taken to solve the problems encountered.
8. Submit to the dean summary of students Industry Training Reports
duly noted by the Department Chair for approval:

9. Conduct post conferences with the head/supervisor of the cooperating company/agency

regarding the student-trainees’ performance and evaluation
Duties and Responsibilities of the Host Institution
1. Designate a person which will serve as the contact person of the

college with regard to the internship concerns of the student
2. Identify activities that will maximize student potentials and
developed student skills
3. Monitor and supervise student in his/her assigned task
4. Award a certificate of completion to the student upon satisfactorily
completing 240 hours of internship.
5. Accomplish the student trainee evaluation form
Duties and Responsibilities of Student Trainee
1. All student having their summer internship program should be officially enrolled in
the subject ECEOJT, a six (6) unit subject
2. Complete the 240 hours industry immersion required by the subject
3. Attend all activities conducted by the College with regards to the student Internship
preparation
4. Strictly follow the host institution/organization’s policies.
4.1 Proper decorum
4.2 Attendance
4.3 Code of Conduct
5. Notify the Internship coordinator with regards to problems encountered by the student
in the conduct of the internship program.
6. Student should not be involved in any incident that will damage the reputation of the
school, the host institution/organization or any other individual
7. Submit all the requirements prescribed by the College in the ECEOJT.
