Andhra Pradesh Socio-Economic Survey is a very important subject for all
competitive examinations like APPSC Groups, SI, Police Constable. This topic

APPSC. Therefore, with this in mind, we present to you the complete contents
of AP Socio-Economic Survey 2022 in the form of important points.
Geographical, public and socio-economic conditions of
Andhra Pradesh:
• Andhra Pradesh has a population density of 304 people per square
kilometer as per the 2011 census . All India has a population density of
382 people per square kilometer . The sex ratio in the state increased
from 983 in 2001 to 997 in 2011 , which is more than the all-India
number of 943.

• The state literacy rate in 2011 was 67.35 per cent as compared to 62.07
per cent in 2001 . The state has an all India literacy rate of less than
72.98. Literacy in Andhra Pradesh increased from 29.94 per cent in 1981
to over 67.35 per cent in 2011 to over 37 per cent. The female
literacy rate increased from 52.72 per cent in 2001 to 59.96 per cent in
2011 .

• Urbanization is considered an important factor in growth . The total


urban population of the state increased from 29.17 per cent in 2011 to
24.13 per cent in 2001 .

• According to the land use classification, 37.11% (60.49 lakh hectares) of


land is under cultivation. 22.63% (36.88 lakh hectares) falls under forest
cover, 12.73% (20.74 lakh hectares) for non-agricultural
purposes and 8.20% (13.32 lakh hectares) for fallow and fallow
land . The state has 13 wildlife sanctuaries and 3 national parks .

• The state recorded 704.8 mm of rainfall in the south. During the western
monsoon season in 2020-21, the rainfall was 556.0 mm, 26.8%
higher than normal. All the districts of the state except Srikakulam and
Vijayanagaram received heavy rainfall, while Rayalaseema region
received 65% more rainfall. During the period 2020-21 (October to
December), 25.1% more rainfall was recorded during the northeast
monsoon. The rainfall at that time was 370.3 mm, which is higher than
the normal rainfall of 296.0 mm.

• For the first time in the country, the AP government has


announced MSP for substantial crops in AP
and the Center has not announced any minimum support price for
these - chillies - Rs.7000
per quintal, turmeric - Rs.6850, onion - Rs.770 per quintal and small
millets - Rs.2500 per quintal. , Banana at Rs.800 per quintal and sweet
orange at Rs.1400 per quintal.
Macroeconomic Statistics - At Current Situations
At current prices, Andhra Pradesh GSDP is estimated at Rs 9,86,611 crore in
2020-21 (preliminary estimates), up from Rs 9,71,224 crore (FRE) in
2019-20. According to forecasts, GSDP for 2020-21 is projected at fixed prices
(2011-12) at Rs 6,68,848 crore, which is estimated at Rs 6,51,624 crore in
2019-20 (FRE), indicating a growth of (-) 2.58 per cent. According to the
second forecast, GDP growth will be (-) 8.0 per cent higher in 2020-21.
Sector-wise growth rates of GVA in Andhra Pradesh were 2 0 2 0 - 2 1 (2 0 1 1 - 1
2 at fixed prices) for agriculture : 4.16%, industry : (-) 3.26% and services
sector : (-) 6.71%. Have registered. At current prices, per capita income rose
by 1.03 per cent to Rs 1,70,215 in 2020-21 from Rs 1,68,480 in 2019-20. The
national per capita income , which stands at Rs 1,34,186 crore, is expected to

Public Finance
• FY 2019-20 The state's revenue collection is estimated at Rs 57,601 crore
through own taxes. It is learned that Rs 3315 crore and Rs 50,957 crore
were collected from own non-tax sources through central transfers.

• Own tax revenue declined from Rs 57,601 crore in 2019-20 to Rs 57,378


crore in 2020-21 (RE).
Revenue is 31% from sales tax and 33% from GST. The state's own
non-tax revenue in FY 2020-21 (RE) was Rs 3310 crore and the outflow of
resources from the Center in FY 2020-21 (RE) was Rs 61,133 crore.

Public Distribution
• About 90% of ration cardholders receive essential goods each month.

• A total of 9260 mobile dispensing units have been set up for this
purpose.

• There are currently 29,782 discount stores operating in the state. Each
store has 483 cards and supplies goods to every 1417 people.

• Rice is being provided at the rate of Rs. 1 / - per kg under the National
Food Security Act 2013 to meet the needs of 1.52 crore families below the
poverty line.
Seasonal Conditions
• During the western monsoon season in the southern state in 2020-21,
the normal rainfall was 26.8% higher than the normal of 706.8 mm
which was 556.0 mm. All the districts of the state except Srikakulam and
Vijayanagar recorded high rainfall.

• During the northeast monsoon season 2020-21 (October to December),


the maximum rainfall was 370.3 mm.
The rainfall at that time was 25.1% higher than the normal rainfall of
296.0 mm.
Agriculture
• Under the YSR Farmer Assurance Scheme, the Central Government will
provide financial assistance of Rs. 13,500 / - per annum to the farmer
families who own land, including Rs.

• SC, ST, BC, Minority Landless Lease Farmers & ROFR Growers are also
provided financial assistance of Rs. 13,500 / - per family per annum in
the Andhra Pradesh Government Budget.

• In 2020-21, 1.54 lakh landless SC, ST, BC,


51.59 lakh farmer families including minority farmer families and ROFR
cultivators will get Rs. 6928 crores was provided.

• The area under total cereal production under food grains has increased
by 3.9% from 41.45 lakh hectares in 2019-20 to 43.08 lakh hectares in
2020-21.
Farm cart:
• The government is empowering farmers to adopt environmentally
friendly decisions to adopt and manage economically profitable
decisions to adopt crop management practices and reduce the cost of
cultivation and increase productivity by adopting environmental
friendliness (farmer field schools) through management. During
2020-21 (March 31, 2021), 10,790 farm programs were conducted.

• It has created awareness among 3.23 lakh farmers in the state through
various crops like maize, millets, pulses and oilseeds like paddy. It is
proposed to conduct 19,000 farm programs in 2020-21.
Through Dr.YSR Agri Testing Labs, the quality of seeds, fertilizers and chemicals
used by farmers at the village level can be monitored at the village level and
the best ones selected.
Horticulture & Sericulture
• The cultivation of horticultural crops in AP State covers an area of 17.84
lakh hectares and the production is 312.34 lakh MT.

• According to the EXIM Bank report, AP accounted for 7.8% of the


country's gross domestic product and vegetables.
• Papaya, lemon, cocoa, tomato and chilli are the number one oil palm
cultivars in the country.

• It ranks third in the implementation of micro-irrigation at the national


level. AP is the largest fruit producer in the country with a share of 15.8%
of the gross national product.

• The state of Karnataka is the second largest producer of silk. Silk


production is on 1,18,407 acres across the state.

• In the state, 1479.69 MT of raw silk and 59079.37 M.Ts reeling cocaine (BV
+ CB) of grade 2 B & Bivoltine were produced in the year 2020-21 (up to
November 2020). Due to the impact of the Kovid-19 epidemic,
productivity fell from 74 to 73 kg per 100 DFLS net, reducing the income
of silk farmers.
Livestock & Fisharies
• Andhra Pradesh is proud to have famous and world famous cattle
breeds like Ongole and Punganur.

• According to the latest livestock census 2019, the state's livestock


population is 46.00 lakh cows, 62.19 lakh buffaloes, 176.27 lakh sheep,
55.22 lakh goats, 0.92 lakh pigs, 0.07 lakh other cattle, a total of 340.67
lakh cattle & 1075.11 lakh poultry.

• Dr. 15 lakh compensation will be given in case of death of domestically


bred cow or buffalo through YSR Animal Compensation Scheme.

• The government has set a target of Rs. Amul Palavellu (YSR) launched
the scheme at a cost of Rs 3517 crore to
benefit 4.69 lakh women.

• Also, 2821 units have been set up under Amul Palavelluva and 3503 units
under Jagannanna Jeevanakranthi at a cost of Rs 1868.63 crore
respectively to benefit 2.49 lakh beneficiaries through the
Cheyuta-Jagannanna Jeevakranti scheme.

• The state accounts for 29.7% of the national production of fish.


• 46.23 lakh tonnes of fish and prawns were produced in 2020-21. In
2019-2020, the state was ranked 1st in the country in egg production
(2170.77 crores), 4th in meat production (8.50 lakh MTs) and 4th in milk
production (152.63 lakh MTs).

• Under the YSR Fisheries Guarantee, assistance to 109231 fishing families


during the fishery closure has been increased from Rs.4000 / - to
Rs.10,000.
Forests
According to the Indian State Forest Report, 2019, the forest area of the state
of Andhra Pradesh is 37392.24 sq. Km. Km, which is 22.94% of the total
geographical area. Of which the most dense forest is 1994.22 sq. M. Km,
moderately dense forest 13938.36 sq. Km. Km, open forest 13204.82 sq. Km and
shrubbery 8254.84 sq. Km.
Social Welfare
• The population of Scheduled Castes in the State has increased from
74.28 lakhs in 2001 to 84.69 lakhs in 2011. Recording a growth of 14.01 per
cent. According to the 2011 census, the total population of Scheduled
Castes in the state of Andhra Pradesh is 17.8 per cent. Their literacy rate
is 64.47%, which is lower than the state literacy rate of 67.41%.

• Eligible SC households under the "Jagjivan Jyoti" scheme will be


provided up to 200 units of free electricity to SC households. Through
this 17.44 lakh SC families are covered every month.

• 2011 Census ST population is 27.39 lakhs, which is 5.53% of the total state
population. The literacy rate is 48.83% (female 39.40%, male 58.37%).

• 123490 BCs are benefiting under "YSR Vahana Mitra". 10,000 / - per
annum in 2020-21 with a financial assistance of Rs. 123.49 crore is being
spent on this.

2022
• Under the APIDP (AP Industrial Development Policy) it has been decided
to set up 10 trust areas in the state between 2020-23. These will create
more jobs and further strengthen economic growth.

• To support and enhance the growth of MSMEs, the Government has


decided to support and monitor MSME loans through the
implementation of OTR through the “ DrY.SR Navodayam ” scheme.

• Krishna town node will be developed in the state under CBIC (Chennai
Bengalore Industrial corridor). As part of this, SPSR will develop Nellore,
Tatipatri, Srikalahasti and Chittoor areas. In addition, the vizag-chennai
Industrial Corridor (VCIC) will be developed.


APIIC has developed and developed 475 industrial parks, 6 special
economic zones (SEZs), 20 SPVs & JVs, 21 auto cities and 31 MSME parks
with a 25% GDP target as per the National Manufacturing Policy 2011 .
• The state's mineral and mining sector is expected to generate revenue
of Rs 2,072 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 1,095 crore
in 2020-21 (up to November 2020).

• Out of the total 54 projects under the Jalayagyan project, 14 projects


have been completed so far. The remaining 40 (23 Major + 7Medium + 4
Flood Banks + 6 Modernization) projects will be completed in the next 4
years.

• The state government has provided a subsidy of Rs 9,896 crore by


providing 9 hours of free electricity to farmers.

• Steps are being taken to provide free electricity to farmers by


generating solar power from 8000 MW to 10000 MW by setting up AP
Green Energy Limited.

• By December 2020, the total R&B road network in the state (excluding
national highways) will be 46225 km, 13500 km of state highways, 32725
km of main district roads and rural roads. National Highways Density
13.72 km per lakh population (2011)

• There are 10.89 km of national highways in the state and 41.46 km in


length in every 1,000 Sq. The Indian average is 40.00 km / 1,000Sq.km.

• The state of Andhra Pradesh has 3843.69 km of 38 National


Highways. Of the 6943.69 km, 2524.15 km are under NHAI control, 833.24
km are under MoRT & H, PIU and 3586.30 km are under state PWD
control.

• As of April 2020, there are 79,636 km of rural roads in the state. Of these,
3317 km were built in the year 2020-21.

• Rs.10,000 / - was provided to 273985 beneficiaries through YSR Vehicle


Allied Scheme.

• APSRTC (13 districts) has 4 zones, 12 areas and 11439 buses are running
with a total of 128 depots.

• Received by APSRTC in the Central Government “Kausalacharya Award


2020” Skill Development category,
• There are currently 6 operating airports in Andhra Pradesh. Domestic
airports connected to major cities: Orvakallu and Puttaparthi (private)
at Rajahmundry, Kadapa, Kurnool and international airports:
Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati. Apart from these, it is felt that
Machilipatnam and Ramayapatnam airports will be developed.

• The setting up of Greenfield Electronic Manufacturing Clusters in


Kadapa and Kopparthi will create over 30,000 jobs with an investment
of Rs 5,000 crore.

• An " integrated data center" will be set up by its


enterprise. Visakhapatnam, Amravati, Anantapur and Tirupati have
been identified as major technology hubs for development.

• SAPNET operates the electronic visual media channels MANA TV and AP


Prime TV
.

• Won the AP Space Applications Center Award for mapping as part of


the AP Geospacial Technology for preparation of Action plan maps
under Mission water Conservation MGNREGA.

• APSAC won the Soil Fertility Mappling at village level award for 3 districts
for Digital Technology Sabha 2020. Also won the award for
Andhrapradesh Mineral Vehicle Tracking System (APMVTS).

• 15717 schools were developed under the Manabadi Nadu program


today at a cost of Rs.4255.55 crore. A total of 16345 schools will be
developed in the second tranche.

• 14 Viral Research and Development Labs were set up during Covid-19.

• Through 7458 sub-centers, 1142 primary health centers, 195 community


health centers, 28 area hospitals, 14 district hospitals, 10 other health
facilities (3 MCHs, 4 MPLs, 2 FRUs and 1 ESI) and 12 teaching hospitals,
besides 59 urban families Welfare Centers, 44 Post Partum Units, 259
e-UPHCs and 5 UHCs providing facilities for child and family welfare.
• 44.48 lakh mothers / guardians were found eligible under the Amma
Odi scheme and a total of Rs. 6564.22 crore was transferred to each of
the 44.28 lakh bank accounts.

• Under the AP Jagannath Educational Gift Scheme, the school bag


provided three (3) pairs of uniforms, a set of notebooks, a set of
textbooks, a pair of shoes and two (2) pairs of socks and a belt with a
belt to all the 42.34 lakh students studying from Class I to X.

• CISCO and Technical Skill Development institutes (TSDI's) have been set
up in the Polytechnic College to enhance the skills of the students.

• In terms of covid, 7458 sub-centers, 1142 primary health centers, 195


community health centers, 28 area hospitals, 14 district hospitals, 10
other health facilities (3 MCHs, 4 MPLs, 2 FRUs and 1 ESI) and 12 teaching
hospitals, besides 59 urban families Welfare Centers, 44 Post Partum
Units, 259 e-UPHCs and 5 UHCs are being facilitated by the State
Government.

• Out of a total of 1577 network hospitals, 2436 treatments are available


through the Health Sree scheme.

• To compensate for the loss of wages during the post-recovery period,


the government provides a "Post Operative Sustainability Allowance"
under the YSR Health Support. Patients receiving treatment will
be provided financial assistance up to a total of Rs.

• Through the 257 ICDS Centers in 13 districts, nutrition is being provided


to 0-6 year olds and pregnant mothers through the YSR holistic nutrition
scheme. 8.70 lakh people aged 3-6 years are registered in 55607
Anganwadi Centers.

• Under Jagannath Accommodation Blessing, the government will


provide food and hostel expenses of Rs.10,000 / - to ITIs and Rs. 15,000 /
- and Rs. 20,000 / - for degree and above courses are offered under
management fee per annum.

• The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to distribute 30.66 lakh


homestead plots to all the beneficiaries under the "Navaratnalu
Pedalandariki Illu" scheme. Beneficiaries will be given 1.50 cents in rural
areas and 1.00 cents in urban areas.

• There are 125 urban local bodies, 17 municipal corporations, 77


municipalities and 31 urban panchayats in the state. According to the
2011 census, the urban population
in the state is 140.06 lakhs.

• Under the MGNREGA scheme, 2604 lakh man-days have been created
in 13 districts. This provides an average of 54.44 working days per
household.
SERP:
• 83.53 lakh rural women are incorporated in 8.35 lakh SHGs.

• A total of 28,185 Village Organizations (VOs), 662 Mandal Associations


(MSs) and 13 districts across Andhra Pradesh came into existence. The
total savings from 83.53 lakh rural SHG members was Rs.8564.43 crore
and the available corpus was close to Rs.10655.01 crore.
Nearly 100% of the members have SB accounts in banks.
Social Security:
• Pension for the aged, single women and others: 2250 / - per month
(2500 / - from February 2022)

• Disability Pension : 3000 / - per month

• Pension for Kidney Victims: 10,000 / - per month


Poverty:
• For the year 2011-12, the rural to urban poverty ratios in the joint Andhra
Pradesh were 10.96% and 5.81% respectively and the mixed ratio was
9.20%.

• At the same time, the all-India figures for the period were 25.70% and
13.70% for rural and urban areas respectively and the mixed ratio was
21.92%.
