pertains to local or regional cause or issue for Social Change related to specific professional tracks that
can be addressed or tackled using an ICT Project for Social Change.

There are numerous and varied causes of social change. Four common causes, as recognized by social
scientists, are technology, social institutions, population, and the environment. All four of these areas
can impact when and how society changes. Modernization is a typical result of social change.

One of the local or regional issues that can be solved using ICT is to minimize local crimes. Nowadays,
there is an alarming increase of local crimes. The use of CCTV cameras and computer devices these
times can be used as instrument or tool to review clips that is related to the crimes. Although most
footages are not the actual happenings in the crime, it holds important keys like faces of people who are
suspects to the crimes. These clips can be presented in the court as evidences. This is an major
breakthrough in the field of justice and police department of a region.

Another contribution of ICT to locals is the use of computers and communication devices to disseminate
information and news about the region. Since the use of computers, mobiles and internet is widely
known and used, the availability and access of information is much easier.

ICT allows students to monitor and manage their own learning, think critically and creatively, solve
simulated real-world problems, work collaboratively, engage in ethical decision-making, and adopt a
global perspective towards issues and ideas.

Four common causes, as recognized by social scientists, are technology, social institutions, population,
and the environment. All four of these areas can impact when and how society changes. And they are all
interrelated: a change in one area can lead to changes throughout.
