store products in bulk before either shipping them to other locations or individually
to end consumers.
Storage: Is the activity of storing products at warehouses and logistics centers. Its
role is to provide a steady supply of goods to the market to fill the temporal gap
between producers and consumers.

Roadways: Transporting either goods and materials or transporting people.

Replenishment Cycle: A term used in inventory management that describes the

process by which stocks are resupplied from some central location. This process
often involves the development of quantitatively based inventory models designed
to optimize this resupply process.
Sku Density: Aisle(high sku-density), which means opportunity to pick more
products within. this aisle(high pick-density). • This concentration of activity tends to
reduce labor requirements.
Mezzanines: Industrial mezzanines are a type of structure that is used to improve
the surface of a warehouse so that there are spaces that are on top so that they can
also be used as a storage or work area for different kinds of industries.

Outside Parking Lots: lanes between rows of parking spaces and aisle space
between motor vehicles shall comply with the requirements of the Building Code.

Maneuvering Space: The unobstructed area needed for a truck to back in a single
movement directly from the access street into a loading space, the depth of which is
measured perpendicular to and from the front of the loading space to the curb side
of the most remote traffic lane in the access street.

Order-Line: Order: The “shopping basket” full of items you've just purchased.
Lines: The different products within your order, recognized by warehouses as each
individual Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) or Universal Product Code (UPC) number.
Pick-Line: Is a variation of the true cross-dock that includes a specific step of
breaking down the received pallets, and distributing the required cases for customer
delivery regimes laid out in grid formats in the warehouse floors.
Aísles: Can also be seen in shops, warehouses, and factories, where rather than
seats, they have shelving to either side.

Perishable: Time is of the essence to ensure produce, flowers, fish, and other
products reach their destinations while they still offer maximum appeal and shelf life.
As a result, many of these goods move via air.

Dock Plates: Standard equipment in warehouse and distribution center facilities,

providing a bridge between the loading dock lip and the bed of a truck or trailer.

Order Picking: Is when the products listed in an order are retrieved from their
respective warehouses. It is the first stage in fulfilling a customer's order, and it's
essential that the process is flawless so that the remaining fulfilment processes—
order packing, shipping, and post-sales activity—can also run smoothly.

Dock Doors: A type of loading dock which are usually raised in the air in order to
be level with trucks carrying goods. The trucks can back straight up to the dock door
without having to change position or lower ramps.

Pick-Face: Solutions feature high-density vertical storage that automatically delivers

items to operators at pick face locations. Operators can then comfortably and
efficiently pick orders with minimal need to travel, ensuring higher productivity and
rapid order fulfilment.

Carton –Picking: when the selectors pick the items for the order, they place them
directly into the final shipping carton in which they are shipped.

Case Picking: Product is picked in full case or carton quantities from a variety of
storage mediums: pallet positions, carton flow, and shelving.

Queuing System: A queue management system is used to control the queues.
Queues of people in various situations form and close in a queue area. The process
