INTRODUCTION TO FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION

Overview : The introduction of firearm examination is a capacity of a firearms examiner to


determine if a certain bullet or cartridge case was shot from a specific firearm is at the heart of
the field of forensic firearms identification, often known as ballistics.
Objective: To paraphrase the foundation and development of firearms identification

The percussion System. Alexander John forsyth discovered a compound

The First real cartridge was developed 'The Flobert Cap' Same as the BB
and was considered the forerunner of 22 short cartridges.

Pin fire Cartridge was developed by Le Faucheux. A much real pin fire
cartridge was also developed in the same year by Houiller.

Rim fire Cartridge . Flobert developed the BB (bullet breech) cap. which
1845 was cosidered the forerunner of the .22 cal cartridge.
1846 Smokeless powder was discovered it was used in Shotgun.

Automatic Machine gun. Hiram Maxim developed the first Fully automatic
gun

John T. Thomson Developed in the course of WW1 the Thompson M1A1


and Pioneered the making of Thompson sub-machine gun.

George Hyde - A well known expert in the field of SMG (also kown as
