Q

LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 12

(Research III)

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Performance Standard The learner:
1. Prepares a plan and a focus on issues
and ideas in their respective field.

B. Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students will be

able to:
1. Point out parts and format of a research
plan.
2. Understand contents of a research plan
highlighting significant details of research
study chosen.
3. Construct a research plan focused on
issues relevant to respective field effectively.

II. CONTENT:
Topic Writing a Research Plan

III. LEARNING RESOURCES:

Materials Visual aids, PPT slides, laptop, projector

IV. PROCEDURE:
A. Pre-Discussion:
1. Daily Routine a. Classroom Management
b. Prayer/Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance
d. Checking of Assignment

2. Motivation Task 1: SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

Concept Development
The class shall be divided into two groups
(boys versus girls). Each group shall be
given 5 minutes to solve a situation requiring
careful planning to solve a problem.

Situation:
You are working on a convenience store
similar to 7/11 which offers prepared and
packed meals. Your busiest time of the day
is the lunch time. It is when people in the
nearby business establishments come to
grab something quick. However, a new fast
food restaurant near your store is opening
soon. How can you avoid losing your lunch
customers to this new competitor?

B. During-Discussion:
1. Presenting the Lesson Discovery Task:
Comprehension Questions:
1. How were you able to identify
solutions to the problem?
2. Did you find it easy to look for the best
solution to the identified problem?
Why?
3. If you will be faced with the similar
situation, how will you go about it?
What steps will you follow? Explain
your answer.
4. Is careful planning needed in this
kind of situation? Why?
5. How important is evaluation and
monitoring in solving a problem?

2. Lesson Proper Sample Research Plan (teacher-made)

The teacher will discuss on (Each group of researchers shall be provided
the parts of a research plan copy of the sample research plan)
using the example.
Title of the Study: Impact of Blended
Learning in the Academic Performance of
ABIS SHS Students

Rationale: (write a short overview of what is

your research study all about)

Blended learning has become the latest

educational programme to make an impact in
today’s classrooms. From schools to
universities, it’s being used to bring the
digital world and in-class teaching together—
but what benefits does it offer staff and
students, and can it work alongside
traditional teaching method?

Although learning outside of the classroom is

something that students have always been
encouraged to do, the recent explosion in
digital technology has meant that teaching
can now be far more engaging. Exploring
how blended learning is being used inside
and outside of today’s classrooms is a
significant study which would benefit many.

Research Problem: (written in question

form)

The question guiding this science fair

experiment is: How blended learning in the
SHS classes affects students’ performance?

Hypothesis: (written in If…then form and do

not use pronouns)

The hypothesis is: If students’ academic

performance increases with blended learning
as teaching method, then it must be used too
in the JHS level.

Importance of the Research Study: (state

the most significant effect of the study)

This research study is significant because: It

tests the effectiveness of the education
program, a hybrid teaching methodology,
blended leaning.

Procedure: (includes method and materials

needed)
The variables for this study are:
A. Independent: Blended Learning
B. Dependent: Academic Performance of
SHS Students
C. Controls:
Blended Learning Strategies
1. Using social media
2. Using internet applications and
software
3. Using web mails

Sample size and Experiment Set-Up:

60 students (2 classes) will be tested. One

class will utilize blended learning and the
other without. For one full grading period,
students’ performances in these two classes
will be monitored, observed, and measured
to gain a comparative result.
Expected Result:

The researchers expect that: Students in

both classes would certainly have different
academic performances as affected by the
use of blended learning. With the height of
technological advancement, there is a high
possibility that blended learning class
perform well. However, not all students have
full access of internet and technological
gadgets.

Bibliography: (provide at least 5 references)

*3 of the sources can be internet
websites, 2 of the sources must be
another type of resource ex. Book,
encyclopedia, science journal, magazine,
etc.
1. www.blendedlearning.com
2. The Handbook of Blended Learning

Guide Questions
1. What is a plan?
2. How does a simple plan differ from a
research plan?
3. What do you think are the
components of a research plan?
4. What is the effective number of
sampling participants for a research?
50? 60? 100? Why?
5. What significance will it serve the
researchers?
6. Why do we need to write a research
plan?

C. Post-Discussion: Final Task:

1. Developing Mastery Task 2: BRAINSTORMING
Concept Development
The groups shall brainstorm on the contents
of their research plan following the format
discussed.
(The outputs will be presented for approval
tomorrow)

2. Application 1. How important is writing a plan before

starting a project and solving targeted
problem in different fields?
2. How can student like you aid in lessening
the impact of school problems and finding
solutions to it through proper planning?

3. Generalization 1. What are the important steps to follow in

constructing a research plan?

V. Evaluation: Task 3: RESEARCH PLANNING

Concept Development
Identify some relevant problems in the
community which you can solve through a
research study.
