MY LIFE MAP: GROWING UP IN

STORIES

AGE 0-10
As an introverted child, stories were my
DISCOVERING first friends. My first vivid memory is
writing my name at 4.
STORIES AS A CHILD
THEN...
My parents saw my passion and encouraged
me by buying me books and encouraging me
to read everything I could.
Before I became I writer,
I was a reader
THE SEED WAS PLANTED
I started writing my own stories at 7. There were just too
many characters in my head and not enough books!
I finished my primary school's library two years before
graduation and moved to secondary school level books.
A WRITER WAS BORN!
Scratching out stories of good overcoming
evil, damsels getting rescued and clever
people outsmarting an oppressive system on
computer sheets my dad brought home for
me from work.
When those ran out, the back of my exercise
books.
MY TEEN YEARS
SHAPED ME
Boarding school was my first real-world
exposure and for the first time, I was not
the only star. It was a challenge - and a
pleasure.
I also saw (and was a victim of) bullying,
and I resolved that the cycle would stop
with me.
This was the major aim of my prefectship.
AS A TEEN PREFECT REASON
My team was at the bottom of the rankings.
I saw the damage criticism and punishment did to young
students, and I knew that would not work to get the best
from them.

RESULT
By showing up authentically, and being accessible, junior
athletes trusted me and gave their best in competitions.

I led in sports with empathy, instead My team came in 3rd (from the bottom out of 7) at the

MY CAREER SO FAR...
My 20s (and 30s) have been a
