Research
In simple word “Research means search again”.

Research is a scientific and systematic search for various information


about a specific topic.

Descriptive Research
It includes surveys and fact finding enquiries of different
kinds.Researcher has no control over the variables; He/she can only
report what has happened or what is happening.

For example:
● Frequency of shopping

● Preference of the people

Analytical Research
The researcher use facts or information already available,and
analyse these to make a critical evaluation of the data.

For example:

● How absentee rate among students can be reduced

● How complaints made by customers can be reduced

Applied Research
It aims at finding out a solution for an immediate problem
facing a society/industry/business/organisation.

For example:

● Find solutions to cure a disease

● Find solutions of problems,an economy is facing due to flood

Fundamental Research
It is mainly concerned with generalization and with the
formulation of a theory.Research studies,concerning human behaviour
carried on with a view to make generalisations about human behavior.

For example:
● Factors impacting each stage of product life cycle

● A study assessing whether men or women are more likely to suffer


from depression

Quantitative Research
It is a statistics of human activities that will answer questions
like “How much”or “How many” .

It will try to resolve the quantity of copies of product to be


delivered to certain group of user.

For example:

● Closed ended questionnaires

Qualitative Research
● It provides detailed information including knowledge about
behaviour,attitude and aptitude of the user
● It aims to provide the depth of understanding
● It includes like:

Interviews Case study Open ended questionnaires

Conceptual Research
It is generally used by philosophers and thinkers to develop
new concept or theory or to reinterpret the existing concepts

It is related to some abstract idea or theory/based on a particular


idea

Empirical Research
Its relies on experience alone,often without due regard to an idea
or theory.

It is data based research,coming up with conclusions which are


capable of being verified by observation or experiment
