CAD/CAM/CAE Techniques Portfolio – Exercise 7

“Axure– Wireframe Prototyping”

This exercise aims to make you more familiar with the Axure RP software through
wireframe prototyping a website. You are expected to create both low-fidelity and
high-fidelity wireframes, and demonstrate skills in using widget libraries, dynamic
panels, masters, and page formatting.
You will find a comprehensive set of tutorials on the Axure.com webpage, please
use the link below to navigate directly to Axure Docs. From here you can click the
link in top ribbon menu labelled Axure RP Tutorials

services

The exercise is to create a custom app/website using the AxureRP software to

create the wireframe structure and flesh this out with contents. You are
recommended to complete the tutorials covered in “The Basics” before you start
working on this exercise. You may continue to into “Complex Interactions”
1. Work through the Getting started with Axure RP introductory guide and
tutorials to gain familiarity, then build a wireframe prototype for a website.
2. Based on the wireframe prototype you created in Step.1, use your creativity to
edit the prototype. You can edit the website prototype features/ contents to suit
your own purposes, for example, delete/ add buttons or sections, rearrange
toolbar locations.
3. Improve the wireframe prototype you designed in Step.2, and create a high-
fidelity prototype with colours and images. You can style the website with
elements of your own choice, e.g. your own project images, logos, icons,
colour scheme, texts…, etc.

Make sure you take the required screen shots for the report
during the tutorial.

“Axure– Wireframe Prototyping”
• Briefly describe the functions of the software Axure RP as a diagram tool and a
graphics tool. Relate these functions to different stages of the interface design &
prototyping processes.
• Briefly discuss the pros and cons of high-fidelity and low-fidelity wireframes.
