Aim of professional training of specialists in psychology lies predominantly in
their personal, professional and moral development and involves formation of
scientific ideas about the nature of the psyche, about the methods and results of the
study of mental phenomena. The results of training are not just the acquisition of
psychological knowledge, abilities and skills, but also the development of the ability
to apply psychological knowledge in the conditions of professional activity, the
formation of key professional competencies that correspond to modern socio-cultural
conditions in the country and the world.
The content of professional training of specialists in psychology is determined
by the need to acquire knowledge, develop skills and abilities that can ensure the
employment of a specialist. Specialists in the field "Psychology" can do research,
educational, managerial, psychodiagnostic, consulting and psychocorrective work: in
scientific and educational institutions of various levels; in institutions of social
spheres engaged in social and psychological assistance; economic institutions,
performing personnel duties; medical institutions, providing psychological support to
sick people; in law enforcement agencies, together with other specialists,
participating in law enforcement activities.
Psychologists also develop recommendations and implement psychohygienic
measures to improve the conditions of education and upbringing of a person.
Graduate psychologists are able to work in the system of education, medicine, social
assistance, social services for families, children and the youth, in the Armed Forces,
Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as
