Topic: Trophy Hunting

Imagine you’re in your front yard and all of a sudden someone with a large gun walks up
and shoots you then take your head and mount it on the wall for recognition from Ricky
Gervais. Hunting is a sore subject for a lot of animal lovers. I myself am not a hunter, but I
respect hunting when the animals are used for a purpose like food or clothing. However, there
are some types of hunting that I can’t back. One of these is called trophy hunting.
Trophy hunting is a huge illegal issue in Thailand and around the world. It is cruel,
unnecessary and should be banned everywhere. The primary motivation behind this type of
hunting isn’t for food, clothes, or even to use the animal parts for anything productive. It’s to
use the animal part as a trophy. In this speech, I will be laying out the facts about trophy
hunting, why it should be banned everywhere and taking a look at the reasons that people still
participate in this inhumane activity.
The question is what types of animals are trophy hunted in Thailand? There are over
1,300 species of animals that are hunted for the purpose of trophy hunting. Now Trophy
Hunting’s illegal in Thailand because in the past there was a mad hunting, then wildlife is
greatly reduced. But in Thailand’s still hunting such as ivory from the elephant, anther from the
deer and the last moral panic hit the Thailand when one obscure Black panther met at Thung
Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary, an unique and beloved Black panther, was illegally murdered
when the millionaire paid an officer for the opportunity to slaughter the creature inside the park,
for boost his ego and recognition, for more than 2 years to be able to punished him, It signifies
that that trophy hunters are still in Thailand, even if they're illegal. and a lot of the animals
hunted are already endangered and a lot of the animals hunted are already endangered, So
they don’t need to be hunted, especially not for such things such as a trophy. They're not being
used for anything useful. It's simply to boost the human's ego. It’s an unfair use of power on
the human side. It is done merely for the enjoyment of the person and doesn’t do the animal
any good. What is the counter argument? There are actually some scientists that claim there is
compelling evidence that a ban on trophy hunting will not protect animals and will in fact hurt
them more. And this is according to an article called Scientists Banning Trophy Hunting doesn't
Protect animals. From Dr.Dickman, who works at the University of Oxford has a quote that
says imposing a complete ban is likely to cause more animals to die. The animals will be
dying, ensnared or poisoned. So he is talking about the other ways that these endangered
animals might be killed. However, we don’t need to be expedited in that by doing such things
as trophy hunting because it is useless and we're not getting anything from it other than an ego
boost.
trophy hunting takes the many lives of wild animals annually around the world. It is
inhumane and should and needs to be banned. We need more people to stand up against
trophy hunting. And you can help by talking to anyone that you know who does hunt and trying
to discuss or explain with them the differences between trophy hunting, hunting, and hunting
for purpose. Tell them that trophy hunting does not serve any good purpose and it is definitely
not done with the animal's good intent in mind.
