SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

1. Soil
a. Soil Type, Texture and Fertility
The soil type is “silty clay loam.”
The soil on the site has moderately smooth texture.
It is fertile that is comfortable for plant and favorable for growth as
we observe

b. Soil Erodibility/Landslide/Depth of Bedrock

Due to the presence of ditch or sanitary system there is no very large soil erosion that can be taken as
a threat. But to some extent some parts of our site get erosion when there is high intensity of rainfall
due to
There is level difference at our site/slope
Some drainage pattern filled with wastes
Also, some parts of our site didn’t have constructed road and drainage pattern.

2. Topography/slop aspect/
a. Unique Topographic Features
On the south direction of our site border there a gorge that is created by seasonal river.
As opportunity they need as unique recreational areas.
But the society used these unique features as wastage collection areas.

Contours/Steep Slope
There are partially steep slopes on the
middle of the site that creates rapid running
water on the
A
ditches.

SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

b. Drainage Pattern
There is man-made drainage pattern that are constructed with roads

c. Storm Water Effect

On the summer there is a possibility of storm water because of the slope of the site but it will
not erode the site because of the materials of the roads and the existence of drainage ditches.

3. Vegetation

Vegetation is the most important natural element that plays role in making our site cooler. The vegetation
cover of our site is almost 15%. Most of the trees have 6–12-meter diameter.

3
SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

There is compact vegetation on the Gabriel church compound.

SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

 There are also other vegetations like: mango, papaya, banana, bedena, grevilia, and coffee.

b. Shade for building, parking lots, pedestrians

As most of the trees on our site are having height of 6-12 meters they are giving good shade
for existing buildings and there compounds, but there is a little lack of shade because most of
the trees are planted on private properties.
c. Grass and other ground covers
Most of the ground of our site covered by soil and coble stone mat there is less grass
coverage on the site.

4. Land use/Zoning/height and development regulations

a. Type of use
Large part of the site is covered by residential activities and there are some other activities
 Service: - St. Gabriel cathedral church
 Commercial: - Cairo hotel
i. Restaurants
ii. Pension
iii. Furniture house
iv. Garage
v. Mini shops
b. Mix of uses
i. Residence + mini shop
ii. Service + Mini shop
iii. Residence + pension
 The building height of mass of the existing buildings are G+0, except few commercial and
mixed-use buildings that are G+1 & G+2
 The height of St. Gabriel cathedral church were almost near to 12 meters.

5. Access and Circulation

 All the block side of the site they have access which means in all of the road there is
high traffic and human access.
 There are to large asphalt roads at the border of the site which have two pedestrian
access
 Most of the other access are constructed from coble stone and need some maintenance
 On both main roads there is a high intensity of circulation, also at some area of
garages there is high intensity of vehicles circulation
 In the residential areas there is low intensity of traffic circulation but high human
circulation.

6. Morphology (form, pattern, arrangement, mass, height, density of urban fabrics)

The arrangement of the site is parallel with the two main roads bounding our site and
most of commercial and mixed activities are aligned to them.
The parcels, housing and other buildings that exists on the site are well arranged
with that of the pattern of the site.
The height of existing buildings on the site are starting from G+0 to G+2 buildings
which mostly the G+0 buildings are residential and the others are commercial and
mixed use buildings.
The site densely populated and have dense housing settlement

7. Drainage and storm water management

There is man-made drainage pattern that are constructed with roads, but those drainage patterns
have their own problem, these problems are
i) They are filled with wastes
ii) Due to the construction materials are stored on the road they are filled with those
materials
iii) Because of there are no parking areas, vehicles broken the ditches
iv) There is the interruption with other infrastructures that are installed underground.
 On some parts of the site there are no constructed drainage systems.
 On the main roads there are two-line way drainage systems.
 On the coble stone roads there are one-way drainage system.

7
SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

8. Solid and liquid waste disposal

There is no well-constructed /organized waste disposal in our site, it means the society uses
the options that are listed below as a waste disposal
 Drainages
 Use gorge found in neibourhood
 Burn it on the roads

9. View shades and vistas

Their no view from the site and to the site

10. Sound and Noise sources/pollution

There are different sound and noise sources in our site and they are a sound
came from the main roads from the church, from garage, and music’s from
different commercial centers.

11. Wind speed and direction

In our site the wind came from north south direction

12. Sun path and orientation

8
SITE 7 SITE INVENTARY REPORT

13.Infrastructures: Water supply, sewerage, sanitary, Electricity, communication

 There are water lines that are aligned to the road patterns
 Sewerage and sanitary line use the drainage pattern and on the main road there are
sanitary and sewerage lines.
 Electricity: there is electricity line with their own block pattern within the residence
areas.
 There are electric transformers on the site
 There are also telecommunication lines exists.
The problems that we observed on our site
 underground electric lines follow out to ground
 intersection of electricity and telecommunication lines with trees.
 Used parallel drainage and sewerage & sanitary lines.

14. Social services:

healthcare’s, education/schools, religious place, public gathering spaces
- Well known social services found in our site were St. Gabriel Orthodox
Cathedral Church.
- Also, there were other social services these are: Selam Medium Clinic and
One Gym

plantations.

And the place has sense of peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
