On the Beach

1. Moira Davidson does change her life during the novel because of Navy-Commander
Dwight Towers. I think the reason why she changes her life is because on the one
hand she is more than attracted to the Navy-Commander and he doesn´t like that she
drinks so much, (Z) and on the other hand she had understood that life´s too short
especially when you´re a drinker and live in a radioactive earth. Furthermore, (Z) she
knows that the radioactive dust will soon arrive in Australia and then her health
needs to be better to survive this hard time. Although it is highly likely that everyone
will die 

2. I think one of the biggest reasons why he doesn´t take Moira with him to the
submarine ship is because he thinks that Moira could die with him there and it would
be his mistake. It also could be that it would be strange to die with a woman he
actually doesn´t know. Furthermore, (Z) he is always with his crew and I´m pretty
sure that he only wants to die with this crew. 

3. I think if I would be (Gr) were in the same situation I would do exactly the same
because my survival urge and my optimism would definetly (Sp) definitely win against
the realism. Moreover, (Z) would denial what will happen and even in this nuclear
war I would always think that nobody knows how the world will be in one year. I
think being (Sp) being hopefull (Sp) hopeful will changes (Gr) the situation and it´s
hard to accept death. Peter also explains (Pr) to his wife how to use the suicide pills
for all eventualities.

4. Honestly, I have too many ambitions to include it in this one exercise. My biggest
ambition is to create my life meaningful (Gr) meaningfully and after that I would like
to use my life to help other people and that´s why I rescued a dog from Italy two
years ago. (By the way not the hole (A) whole time of my life). That means that my
first ambition is to graduate from high school. 

1. The two apple trees stands (Gr) for the two women of the protagonist´s life. The
one tree is very beautiful and bears tasty fruits and the other one is thin and not
beautiful to look at. Furthermore, (Z) the problem is that the ugly tree steals the
sun from the other tree and the protagonist doesn´t like it. The ugly one stands
for his wife Midge and the other tree stands for the 19 years old woman who
worked for him and whom he kissed fraudulently. 

2. He smiles „a secret smile“(p.57, I.324) because his secret intention is to remove

the tree out of his life. I think at that moment he decides to end his marriage with
his wife Midge and for him, handing over the apple from the useless tree is a sign
of separation (Sp) separation. 

3. With such relationship problems, I would say that both are blame for their
unhappy marriage. In my opinion the biggest problem in their marriage was that
they didn´t adequately communicate their feelings and fears and it doesn´t helps

(Gr) that the protagonist was kissing someone else. This meant that he got too
chaught (Sp) caught up on the idea of being able to meet the young women.
Moreover, (Z) he never helped his wife in the household and was often in a bad
mood. Also, (Z) the biggest problem between both of them is the disinterest in
their life. So, (Z) they aren´t partners in life either. 

4. It´s been a few hours since the protagonist felled the old and thin tree (Wife
Midge). He goes tot he (Sp) to the young and beautiful tree to touch it (Young
woman). He gets stuck in the tree stump that (Sp) symbolizes his wife simbolizes
and slowly dies in the stump. Because he should feel the same pain that she felt
and probably the young woman will find him die (A) (in death?). 
