In the poem, a memoir of my grandfather, a sorrowful interesting line to me that explained the

extent of her father`s grief. "They were either recorded on old scratched tapes or memorized in

his heart. His heart had broken. The songs had leaked out" (Yang 20).Losing a parent or

someone you love is always painful and not addressed although it is hard to describe emotional

state at the time such moments befall on you like the way it is described in the line .I found

interest in the format of the book .The flowing of ideas in the book left me in awe and eventually

finished it unknowingly .The imagery figure she uses is amazing because it makes you feel like

you are among the characters in the book .I felt like I was among them when the narrator is

describing them sleeping next to their brother on the bamboo bed.

The scene where the girls were subjected to rape attempt by a close friend was so scary.

According to the story, the boy had caring parents. I don’t understand why would you want to

deliberately harm the only people who have the ability to create life. Track two addressed on the

absence of a father and its effects on them although mentioned in track 1.The narrator says that

the brothers were taken by the soldiers because they did not have a father .The role of a father

cannot be delegated .
