INTRODUCTION

God the creator, created the world (earth) and all in it together with all the Planets. Lastly God

made a man in His own image. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and

multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and

over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Gen 1:28). God

blessed the man and gave him the power to rule the earth, to subdue and to have dominion over

all creatures. People have power over the earth; such powers are still there though he falls before

God’s glory.

The man has performed his power is a number of ways. Here we are to discuss the most

suitable which is by studying the earth and all in it, studying of natural world. The study of the

natural world is what we called science. Science to day is at its peak, that it has manifest great

thing in the world that somehow are seems to be at conflict with God almighty. Scientists stand

against the scriptures and find themselves in a position of denying GOD’s existence.

1. Science and scriptures

“Science is the systematic study of things in nature, changes that they are involved in and the

reasons for these changes.”1 Science make one to have knowledge from the systematic study of

the structure and behavior of the physical world, especially by watching, measuring and doing

experiments, and the development of theories to describe the results of these activities. Here

science itself is glorifying God the creator for it helps a man to understand God in creation,

making a man to see God in everything he sees, touch, smell, here and taste. So science is to help

a man to use all the five sense to study the already made things.

Scriptures are the holy writing of a religion. Many described scriptures in different ways,

in simple the living, inspired words of the living God. All scripture [is] given by inspiration of

God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim 3: 16,

17). The scripture is origin of everything because it is in the scripture where we see the origin of

science. In simple way science is originated from scripture. Scripture was there before science –

before the creation of the natural world.

2. Appreciating Science

I salute science for the appreciated work it has done to the word. Saying the truth, nowadays life

is simpler than twenty years ago because of science. “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and

seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

The literal translation of this scripture indicates that during the end time, or the terminal

generation, an explosion of knowledge will occur.”2 Some of the good works of Science are;

2.1. Easy communication

Nowadays people can talk without the limitation of distance. In the past it was very difficult to

get information. Today an event can take place at very far; the whole world can watch it together

within some second, pictures from that can be in people’s phones. People can talk face to face

while are away from each other using phone and computers. “You can receive faxes in your own

car, take a message on your sky pager, and explore encyclopedias of vast knowledge small

enough to fit in the palm of your hand. You can sit in the quiet of your own home and drown

yourself in information from the internet.”3

2.2. Transportation

Travelling nowadays is also simple; people can go to different countries without worries of

wasting time. People started by walking on foot, and then used ox-cults. Science came with its

intervention; it helped people to make cars, aeroplanes, train and ships. All this make

transportation to be more easy and convenient. “Mankind invented the automobile, the jet plane,

and the space shuttle. You can fly from New York to Paris in three hours today.”4

2.3. Architecting and infrastructures.

The development of infrastructures is at high. Architectures are architecting, coming up with

new design of buildings. Attractive building are being built all over the world, the buildings that

can make one to think that paradise is within earth and manmade. The roads are well constructed

that can make one to think that there moving a little bit high from the ground.

Medical department is not left out with technology. Many experiments are done to find the drugs

we take when we are sick. “Medical science has the ability to keep a corpse breathing for months

on life support. Tiny babies weighing less than one pound can survive, and unborn babies can

even undergo surgery while within the womb.” 5 Diseases which are regarded as incurable are

now cured, doctors through experiments are discovering the drugs for such diseases.

3. God is more than science

All the above mentioned appreciations are there, nobody can ask, everybody sees these things. If

you are to understand these technologies you will see that is all about science. Science is doing

great things through the remarkable scientists. As much as we are appreciating science that is

doing great we must also appreciate the great work of scriptures- work of God.

God made all things we see with our naked ayes and all things we cannot see with our

naked ayes. Through scriptures, God gave an opportunity to a man to study what was made by

Him. This does not mean that God do not know what He made. God knew that what He made are

good and helpful if one can understand them. God did not want to disclose everything to man,

He wanted man to discover other things by his own, so that from his discoveries can see God and

glorify Him.

3.1. God is founder of science – He created all from nothing.

God is more than science, in other way we can say God made science into existing. God created

both science and scientists; He is the founder of science. God as the creator he made all things

from nothing, something which scientists make science not to understand. This has to be like this

so that one is to be understood as great. The scripture can prove science because is its own work.

The maker understands well what he made than the made thing understanding its maker. From

nothing God made all things, science work from what is already there. For this science has to

praise God because He brought it into exist. All the works of science depend on creation, science

use Gods creation as the source of its information. Scriptures source is God Himself, that is to

say science is existing because there is an existing natural world which God created.

From above explanation, we can start to understand why scientists feel that science is in

contrary to the scripture; science tries to fight its maker, God. The thing is that science is like a

child and his parents. Parents know the child better, and are the one who can explain the child.

The child cannot explain or discuss parents unless parents make themselves known to the child.

This can be the same; the child cannot understand the work of parents unless parents explain to

the child. Although this can be like this, the child cannot make a mistake of denying the

existence of his parents. “The atheist say’s no one can prove the existence of God, they are right.

But I say no can disprove that God exist.” 6 For God’s existence cannot be proved by researches

and experiments in a laboratory. “But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit” (1 Cor.

2:10).

3.2. Scientists die

As much as science is appreciated it is does not give hope to people as scripture does. The

scripture comfort believer that though they die they will live again. Science does not have this as

the truth, it take this as untruth, something which cannot be prove by the scientific explanation -

the Greeks seek after wisdom (1 Cor. 1:22). They are many names of scientists in the world who

did the great work which is still appreciated by many today but all of them are just names, they

all died. One can argue that Jesus also died; yes he did and rose on the third day. He is living

until today while the bearer of these names are died

3.3. He made great things than science

All were created by God, trees, water, soil, minerals, in general, all resources. The creatures are

great, so amazing and admirable. Look at the horizon-sky, great mountains, great lake and

animals. All these were attractively created by God with the words of His mouth. Science makes

use of the Gods creatures as the raw material for its products. In additional to that science does

not come with new design, it copies from God’s creation.

3.3.1. Sun is greater than bulb

God made sources of light which are the sun, moon and stars. These give light to the entire

world. Science made bulb in relation to the sun. “The sun and the bulb make God to be great

because of the number of reasons. The first is that the sun gives both light and heat to all planets

all time a thing that bulb cannot manage; it gives light within a small radius. Even the way the

bulb was made gives credit to God; it took 1000 attempt for it to be made which shows that

science sometimes cannot give answer instantly but God (scripture) can.” 7 The second reason is

that the bulb works by the use of electric energy which sometimes the sun is its source (solar

panels). Science made the solar panels which changes the sunlight energy to electric energy

which the bulb uses. Lastly the God created the sun on the fourth day; today it is still as powerful

as it was made which is different to the bulb, it reaches its expiry date.

Science is making a lot of things which are very attractive to the people but it fail to come up

with its own designed things. Not matter how good and attractive thing science makes it is like

what God created. Houses, up-stars are like mountains, aeroplanes are like birds of the air and so

on. Science just modify the already created, this is so because God allowed the man to do so.

God gave man an opportunity to study the creation, so science was authorized by God.

3.3.3. God can make one to live forever, science cannot.

God made living things and has an ability of making them to live forever. The wise thing Science

can do to tell you how living things regenerate. Science can make you an expert in the study of

living things: how regenerate, live, behave in different condition but it will not create one thing.

If this can happen then it will be magic which science deny. In addition to that scientists dies, do

not live forever and science does not give the hope to live again. “Jesus said unto her, I am the

resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John

11:25). Scientists do not believe that there is life after death. For them life ends when one dies,

then his body decompose.

4. Why scientists deny the existence of God.

From the above explanation, we see that God created all things that are studied. He is also the

one who opened the door for the man to study His (God’s) creation. “… subdue it: and have

dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that

moveth upon the earth.” (Gen 1:28). The scripture says that God made all things but He did not

name them, He brought all before Adam to name them. Adam had to study them and give them

good names that suit individual family of creature.

Though scientists deny the existence of God there is “evidence for the universal presence

of the idea of God in the human mind, even among tribes which are uncivilized and have not felt

the impact of special revelation.”8 People have zeal that there is someone who is greater than all

in their society, this lead the societies to the concept of God. The example can be taken from the

early civilization life, they believed in gods. “The Egyptians had many gods. There was Ra, Mut,

Amon, Plah, Osiris and his wife Isis.” 9 The real God revealed Himself to people in different

ways, as of today almost everyone in the world know this. Although is known that there is God,

people deny His existence. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are

clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and

Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified

[him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish

heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” (Rom 1:20-22)

Science has no problem with God it is the evil mind of man which corrupted science with

evolution. “Bacon’s concept of two ‘books’, both of divine origin, might reasonably lead to the

conclusion that the study of Scripture and the study of the natural world (science), should not

conflict in any way and that if there is conflict at some point, either our understanding of

Scripture is in error or there is some fault in the science. However, the concept in itself does not

automatically lead us to a true understanding of the relationship between the two books.”10

Science is at conflict with God not by its own, it is because of the man’s choice. He knows that

there is God and he deliberately choose to deny Him (God). “It is no surprise that many people

view science as a gosptacle. They do not think you can believe in science and rationally believe

in God.”11

CONCLUSION

From the whole discussion science is not burying God but it is revealing God to people. God

deliberately give man a zeal of studying His creation in older to make Himself revealed to a man

–general revelation . “God is first of all the subject communicating knowledge to man, and can

only become an object of study for man in so far as the latter appropriates and reflects on the

knowledge conveyed to him by revelation. Without revelation man would never have been able

to acquire any knowledge of God. And even after God has revealed Himself objectively, it is not

human reason that discovers God, but it is God who discloses Himself to the eye of faith.” 12 We

believe that there is God. A belief cannot be proved but a theory. So those who think that there

will be a proof for God’s existence for them to start believing in Him, are just wasting their time.

They better come down now and start believing. Through faith we understand that the worlds

were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do

appear (Heb. 11:2). Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind (Albert

Einstein).
