VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) or R.A. No. 9262 is a law
that protects women and children. It is experienced by women of all ages, not
just women but also their children who experienced physical, sexual, and
emotional abuse.
Since VAWC is for women and children, the researchers want to know the
opinion of men about this protection program. Not all men are strong enough to
protect their selves, some of them also need protection. Because they also
experienced the cruelty and discrimination made by the opposite gender. The
researchers want to hear their advocates, voices, and rights to raise their
privileges to protect their selves.
In this study, the researchers want to find out the different perceptions of
men towards the VAWC program in Mahaplag, Leyte.
The study would be beneficial to men. They are the main beneficiary and
can gain more advantage in this study. Thus, they could raise their voices and
opinion about R.A. 9262.
This study focuses only on the perception of men towards the VAWC
program in Mahaplag, Leyte. The study will be conducted at Brgy. Poblacion,
Mahaplag, Leyte. The researchers will only get 95 respondents and they are all
men. The study will be done during S.Y. 2019-2020.
Definition of Terms
The definitions of terms below are based on how the researchers used
those words in their paper.
Gender Equality – means that the different behavior, aspirations and needs of
women and men are considered, valued and favored equally.
Protection – the state of being kept from harm or lost.
Violence – the use of physical force to harm someone to damage property, etc.
CHAPTER II
Kato, I. (2018), noted in his message that men and boys are also critical
contributors to the empowerment of women and girls. He emphasized four
important reasons for the need to engage men and boys in reducing and
preventing gender-based violence: (1) predominantly, men and boys are the
ones
who perpetrate violence; (2) social construction of masculinity play a crucial role
in shaping men’s and boy’s violence against women, (3) men may have better
chances to change fellow men and (4) involving men and boys mean that women
and girls do not have to make the transformation alone.
Augusto, M., (2018), of Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation
(GWAVE) who emphasized the importance of men talking to men to advance
gender equality and non-violence.

CHAPTER III
This chapter deals with the method and design of research. It includes the
method of research, subjects of the study, description of research instrument,
and data gathering procedures.
Method of Research
There are total of ninety-five (95) respondents that the researchers have.
The subjects of this study are all coming from Brgy. Poblacion, Mahaplag, Leyte.
The said respondents are all men since the study is all about the perception of
men towards the VAWC program. To get the exact number of respondents used
the Slovin’s formula.
To gather the data needed for this study, the researchers used
questionnaires. The said questionnaire includes questions that can give answers
to the study. It also includes a demographic background of the respondents
where the respondents can provide basic information (optional), and letter to the
respondents was also made for formality.

Analysis of Data
Presentation of Data
Table 4: Reasons of men why they want to have a law and don’t need a law that
protects them.
No need to have a
protection for men
R6-10, R61-65 because we can already
manage and handle
ourselves.
Analysis of Data
Most of our respondents answered yes, so their wives can’t abuse them
anymore some of our respondents answered no need because they can handle
and manage their selves. Having a law that protects men will be fair enough and
the satisfactory of their men who are in abusive will now be fulfilled.
CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Summary of Findings
2. Men want it to be fair. If women and children have a law that protects
them, they should have too
Conclusion
1. VAWC law gave a big impact to men especially to those who were in abusive
partner that is quite unfair to their side.
2. The opinions of men towards VAWC law were good idea and advantageous
for women and children since they weren’t strong enough to defend their selves.
3. Men’s perception of having their own protection was both neutral, half of our
respondents agreed to implement law for their protection and half of our
respondents don’t need protection anymore because they can handle their
selves in terms of having abusive partners and discrimination.
Recommendation
3. The government will implement more laws that will protect every lives of
Filipinos.
4. To the future researchers to dig more and study carefully concerning issues in
the society.
5. For future researchers to plan and study carefully the problem regarding
VAWC law and it would be nice if they study not just in Brgy. Poblacion
Mahaplag, Leyte but also in the whole municipality of mahaplag.
