Write a news report using the given facts (EN 4 WC-III-25)

Hello learners, this Activity Sheet was designed and developed to

help you learn and understand: Writing News Report Using Given Facts

News Report
A news report is a report on current or recent events to inform
readers of what is happening in the world or in the local area. It contains
facts and detailed information to general questions like who, what, when,
where, and how.

Parts of the News Report

1. Headline tells what the news is about.
2. Lead has the most important facts and is placed at the beginning of
the news report.
3. Body paragraph has the less significant details but the readers may
want to know.

In writing the lead, at least four of the Ws and one H questions are
answered.

Directions: Fill in the graphic organizer with a news report using the given
facts.

● The residents living near the shores were advised to evacuate to

designated evacuation facilities by the Local Government Unit as the
strong typhoon is approaching.
● Strong typhoon washed out plenty of houses and other properties near
the shores.
● Strong typhoon affects several families in the barangay.
● Many extended help to the affected residents by donating food,
clothing, and other necessities.

____Due to financial difficulty and necessities, the fishermen sometimes
were forced to go fishing even in bad weather which put their lives in
danger.

Directions: Using the given facts, make a news report. Write it in the space
provided below.

● Car accident in Masbate City, no one hurt.

● He assured full responsibility of the expenses caused by the accident.
● Police officers who responded to the incident found the driver and
their passengers safe. Both cars got minor scratches.
● “I am not familiar with this place. I was about to turn right when Mr.
Sison’s car appeared and I lost control of my car,” Mr. Andres
admitted.

Bong Sison crashed along the intersection at Masbate City, on August

Car accident in Masbate City, no one hurt.

A sport utility vehicle with the driver Mark Andres and a minivan with Bong
Sison crashed along the intersection at Masbate City, on August 20 last
year.

Police Officer who responded to the incident found the driver and their

passengers safe. Both cars got minor scratches.

“I am not familiar with this place. I was about to turn right when Mr. Sisons

car appeared that I lost control of my car,” Mr. Andres admitted.

He assured full responsibility of the expenses caused by the accident.
