At the end of the English Proficiency Level III, students will be able to communicate routines and
tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar matters. Also, they will be
able to describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and interest
in areas of need using expressions related to personal and family information, shopping, local
situation and employment.

Quantifiers

Few: Refers to small quantities and it is used with countable nouns. It has the sense of not enough
and negative in feeling.
Example:
We have few drugstores (only 3)
There are few chairs in the living room (only 4, not enough; we need 10 chairs)
Several: Refers to more than 1, but less than many.
Example:
We have fifteen public high schools and several private ones.
There are several good grades.
Many: Refers to a large quantity of something.
Example:
We have many restaurants nearby.
Many people go to support the local soccer team

2.1 Grammar: We don’t have enough time.

Enough and Too are used as quantifiers with adjectives, adverbs and nouns to indicate a degree of
quantity.

Enough: It is an adjective that is used to indicate that it is sufficient or equal to what is necessary. It
can be used with other adjectives, adverbs or nouns.

1.- With adjectives and adverbs


He’s not old enough.
He speaks English well enough.
2.- With nouns
We don’t have enough time.

There aren’t enough trains.

Too: It is an adverb that indicates that there is more than enough

It was too big for me.
It’s too dangerous.

He has too much work.
My husband has too many relatives.
There were too many tests.

Indefinite pronouns: It is a word that takes the place of a noun without saying exactly who, what
or where they are.
Ending -body- or -one- are used to refer to people
Ending -thing- is used to refers to things.
Ending -where- is used to refer to places.

1. People
Somebody / Someone Refers to a person in singular. Both have same meaning.
Everybody / Everyone Refers to all the people you are talking.
Nobody / No one Refers to a no existing person in singular.
Anybody / Anyone Refers to an unknown person in singular.

Both have the same meaning. They are used in negative sentences and questions.
2. Things
Something Refers to a thing in singular.
Everything Refers to all the things you are talking about.
Nothing Refers to a no existing thing in singular. It is only used in affirmative sentences.
Anything Refers to an unknown thing in singular. It is used in negative sentences and
questions.
3. Places
Somewhere Refers to a place in singular.
Everywhere Refers to all the places you are talking about.
Nowhere Refers to a no existing place in singular. It is only used in affirmative sentences.
Anywhere Refers to an unknown place in singular. It is used in negative sentences and
questions.
