one guesses that if they aren't normally on, if illuminated they are bad news.
Does the oil pressure one go out after initially starting it?
Will look the next time I use it. Jacqui.

Had wheels spun see

A beautiful build by Peter Goodman he found
...... “a spinner who could make a timber mould, at reasonable cost which
would make forty wheels before it became too degraded for further
use.”...............Any contacts in the UK ? Please send them in. Spotted by Jonathan Flood in New Brunswick.
Jonathan Flood has been very busy, he has found the Smith Motor Wheel
You must see http://news.smithpumps.com/706/articles/the-smith-motor-wheel-a-restoration-from-the-heart-3/
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQXfkf2RN2Y Not Hand Power but a new one on me. Jacqui.

In 1922 Hartley and Teetor also used one of these on a rail bike,

Jonathan also found this, which is wonderful. Do you think the sacking between the outrigger and the stay is the dogs hammock ?

The Indiana Jones of Archive Exploring, he always comes up with
treasure. Has been very kindly been sent a New Zealand Railways Drawing
by Colin Dash the Archive Director of the National Railway Museum of
Exercise Biking
on Rails
New Zealand. This is a high definition scan of a drawing I only had a
pixelated version of until now.

First find out where you can run your machine. If you
want to come to Velocipede Group Rallies it must be
standard gauge 4’ 8 ½ “.

The treasure is the throw out gear

If you are planning a 2 foot gauge machine sort out your friendly
railway first
You will need some temporary track in the garden to test the machine,
a few yards in wood will do but I would not build without it.

From this dimensioned drawing I will build one for my next Velocipede £15 exercise bike from a charity warehouse, a scrap bicycle and 4

Mostly German designs

If you cannot find any cast wheels then disc wheels are the cheapest new wheel. Most are double flanged to grip the

rail head. But for a 4 wheel bike you need a single Flange

These all have wooden “grannys breadboard” flanges. in use.

This is the best starting point for a new wheel design (from the outrigger wheel of the 3 wheel Norwegian).
(Laser cutting of parts to make 4 wheels should be about £200) Build photos by Trevor Catterson.

This design needs one disc to be enlarged to be the flange. Tube Spacers Assembled using coach bolts to attach wheels to axles.

Square holes for Coach Bolt fixing. Studding to bolt discs together. Four wheel, 2 bike, standard gauge continental design.
We need another ring a little larger for the flange.

The two centre bosses. Let us know if you want to use this design and we will do the new
flange disc CAD and send it all out free to anyone who asks.
