“Internet Etiquette or Netiquette”


I. Difference Between Etiquette and Netiquette

Summary: Difference Between Etiquette and Netiquette is that Etiquette is the simple requirements
needs for social behavior while Netiquette, is the code of acceptable behaviors users should follow while
on the Internet.

a. Etiquette:

Etiquette is the simple requirements needs for social behavior,  and the manners you should use in any
class or in any community on any event or festival. Simple etiquette is a set of accepted codes, the code
of ethical behavior while you’re in your profession and having communication among the members of
the profession.

b. Netiquette:

Netiquette, which is short for Internet etiquette,  is the code of acceptable behaviors users should
follow while on the Internet; it is the conduct expected of individuals while online. Netiquette includes
rules for all aspects of the Internet, including the World Wide Web, e-mail, instant messaging, chat
rooms, FTP, and newsgroups and message boards.

II. What is netiquette?

Netiquette is network etiquette. The standard way of communicating online. Knowledge on how to do it
right. Alternatively, what you don’t do that is wrong.

Net etiquette is for people in search of the Millennials mindset using digital civility keywords while social
listening. Learn electronics lifestyles best practices. Ecofriendly digital transformation associated with
cultural change.

To start, helpful actions based on a best behavior. Golden rule common sense practices. But, a lot of

We can all use netiquette depending on how we live. Digital citizenship has certain requirements.
Education is the basis. More or less tech skills for using the internet in popular categories for those of us
interested.

Why use internet etiquette?

We need to use internet etiquette for health and safety. We are in the middle of a pandemic with high
unemployment. Correct communication helps us earn a living, acquire knowledge, and maintain a social
distance.

Recorded history started with us Sumerians. Later, identified as Persians. People who write are called

against the people in Government. Beyond that I hope the rest of this changes to a single closing
paragraph about how it is done.

contradicted my leadership, which we are now following. Furthermore, suffered a Demand Denial of

mislead us on purpose. Another Senator from California broke social distancing guidelines enacted by

Now, we have wildfires too. It is a minority holocaust and scorched earth along the West Coast as

III. Internet and Email Etiquettes – Netiquette

Etiquette helps individuals behave in a socially responsible way. In simpler words, etiquette transforms a
man into a gentle man.

Remember employees need to behave sensibly and appropriately to make their position secure at the
workplace. No organization likes to have someone who lacks etiquette. Respect the place where you
earn a living for yourself.

Communication plays a pivotal role in getting things done in the right way. Employees should pass on
information in its desired form across all related departments. Playing with information is considered
strictly unethical. Prefer written modes of communication over verbal communication.

Email is considered a reliable mode of communication as there is written record of transaction for future
reference.

Netiquette also called Internet Etiquette refers to a set of rules an individual needs to follow while
communicating through mails, writing blogs, sharing views on online portals or any other online
forum.

Let us go through some IE:

1. Make sure emails are self-explanatory. The other person should understand your views and
ideas.
2. Don’t use capital letters in emails unless and until it is the first alphabet of a word. Turn off the
CAPS lock key. Emails written in all capitals are considered rude and loud.
3. Be crisp. Lengthy emails are seldom read. Never ever deviate from the actual topic.
4. The subject line ought to be meaningful and relevant. Through subject line employees can
quickly know what is written in the email.
5. Start your mail with formal greetings.
6. Format your emails correctly. Justify your text. Break the complete message into short
paragraphs with equal spaces in between. Use bullets-points wherever required.
7. Keep all related members in loop. Do mark a blind copy to your reporting boss for him to
know what you are up to?
8. All official emails must have signatures at the bottom. Your signature should include your
name, your company’s name, your designation, and contact details. Make sure your
signatures do not have incorrect information.

9. Avoid writing offensive emails to anyone. It worsens the situation. It is always better to sir
with the other person and discuss issues face to face.
10. Take care of your font style and size. Official emails should ideally be written in Arial style with
a font size of twelve. Emails written in various colors and designer styles are considered
unprofessional and childish.
11. Don’t write anything in your mail which might fall back on you. Read your mail twice before
hitting the send button.
12. Employees should not open illegal or porn sites at workplace. Read carefully the terms and
condition before opening any website. Do not open any site which might harm your office
computer.
13. Take care of spelling errors, punctuation marks and grammar. Wrong spellings irritate the
readers. Be polite and soft in your communication.
14. Avoid using short forms or abbreviations in official mails.
15. It is important to respect other’s privacy. Don’t check anyone’s mail’s in his absence.
16. The mail meant for a particular individual should be marked only to him. Do not mark anyone
else in bcc. Communicate with him in private.
17. Use words like ‘regards’, ‘thanks’, ‘yours sincerely’ to close your mails.
18. Avoid attaching heavy files to your mail.
19. Do not upload objectionable photographs in any networking site.
20. Respect the other person’s views while sharing information on various online forums.
