Some people believed that smartphones are destroying social interaction today.

To what extent, do you agree or disagree?

Many feel that the development of social technology, especially smartphones, have intruded deeply into
people's society, which reduce social interaction between people. In my opinion, while I agree that
smartphones may hurt social interaction, I believe they also bring us some opportunities that did not
exist in the past.

On the one hand, smartphones certainly succeed in wide dispersing people in the community. Thanks to
allowing better communication via chatting apps like Zalo, WhatsApp, and Line, people now can
communicate with each other without meeting in person. However, in long term, over-abusing social
media may cause the lack of realistic interacting abilities, which is easy to be pushed into dilemmas that
hurt the relationship between people. Morever, smartphones help people to create their own worlds
that satisfy their needs, their feelings and captivate them with lots of intriguing content. This promising
results in self-isolation, which would take away the opportunities to retain and create new relationships
or imprison them in their own worlds.

On the other hand, smartphones give people an incredible chance to communicate and access to the
world. For instance, for some people who are suffering from depression autism and disabled,
smartphone become a bridge between them and the world. With the assistance of smartphones, they
now can interact with the community and make friends with cyber citizens or can be inspired and
attracted by diversity slices of life , which plays an integral role in encouraging them to get out of their
dull world and join the community as a normal person.

In conclusion, while smartphones may disperse people from each other, they also bring us to each
other. Everyone should take responsibility in their relationship but not abuse the interesting functions of
smartphones.
