INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORARTE


POSITION : PROJECT MANAGER: PMU
TASK GRADE : 14
SALARY : R553 324.00 – R595 950.00 PER ANNUM
DURATION : PERMANENT
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Grade 12/Matric Certificate.
• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant Diploma from recognised
Institution
• Code 08 drivers licence.
• 3-5 years of experience in relevant field of work, Management of Civil Engineering
and Capital Project.
• Knowledge of Civil designer programme.
• Strong communication skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Interpreting client objectives and budgeted capital expenditure, developing
and setting mission critical interventions with regards to implementation,
communication strategies and project programme.
• Establishing and implementing control mechanism to monitor and measure
interim and final project spend against budget.
• Determining the composition of the professional/technical team in conjunction
with management, negotiating and preparing terms and conditions of consultants’
appointment, monitoring performance and approving claims and payments.
• Project manager labour-intensive projects in line with the EPWP framework
related to reporting requirements as per MIG guideline.
• Directing and controlling the project team constituting internal and external
professionals and specialist professional consultants with a view of optimizing
resource and verifying conformity with control measures.
• Interacting, briefing and managing diverse end user/project originators and
owners in a consultative forum to facilitate participation on prioritization and
decision making.
• Developing, recommending and implementing alternative methods of contracting
and Local Authority procurement procedures to support scheduled completion
of phase/project.
• Facilitating discussion with interested parties and elicits and finalizes information
pertaining to the design for inclusion into the contract documentation.
• Processing the design through technological development and co-ordination of
the input of the professionals from other disciplines to support the production
and utilisation of document for tendering, construction, administration and cost
and quality control phases.
• Monitoring progress and responding to technical and contractual queries and
adjudicating claims.
• Evaluating adherence and compliance with laid down quality standards and
contractual terms, discussing and resolving deviations.
• Applying legislative knowledge applicable to the construction regulations and
referring to contractual terms and conditions to mediate and arbitrate on disputes.
