Agenda:Discussing the solutions and repercussions of Plastic

on Environment
Delegate: Germany
Climate Change is an increasing worry for the whole world in the
current times. Commonly termed as the sixth mass extinction there are a
lot of actions that have been taken up for this topic. The main reason
behind this cacophony is that the way industrialization had fueled the
ultimate use of plastic which is a non-biodegradable synthetic material is
gob-smacking but not unexpected.

Germany is an advocate of sustainability and eco-friendliness for long.

Thus, intense and impactful steps have been taken to prevent the
consequences. This has come with anger of industries which benefit
from the manufacture and selling of this versatile product. Many people
also support this ideology since almost all the products in our daily use
are made out of plastic.

However, looking at the current impact of using plastic Germany has

done many things to help prevent the use of Plastic products. It has
banned the sale of single-use plastic straws, cutlery, cotton buds and
food containers from July 2021 and also invested in waste disposal
system combines with other businesses and influencers to recycle
around 63 percent of the country's plastic waste, to use it in different
medium and forms. It has kept in mind that working in plastic product
manufacturing industries is one of the sources of income of a common
man so it has also given efforts to recycle plastic. One of the most
common ways to make use of this recycled plastic is as an alternative to
fuel burning materials such as gas and petrol.

The best solution for this controversial issue is being found by the
enthusiastic youth of the country who host awareness campaigns and
convey the message of sustainability to a wider spectrum. With the
introduction of the Government’s recycling scheme the country has been
able to reduce their total waste by 1 million tons every year. Germany
recycles 70% of all waste produced, this is the most in the world.
