DEMON, DEVIL, TROLL, OGRE MASK

What you will need:

Oni おに 鬼 (demons, devils,


trolls or ogres) are creatures
from Japanese folklore. Oni
are hideous, gigantic, creatures
with sharp claws, wild hair, two
long horns, two or more eyes
and their skin is often red or
blue .

PART ONE – The eyes
1. Put the paper plate upside down on the table.
2. Measure the place for the eyeholes (see diagram)
3. Cut out the eyeholes.
4. Decorate the eyeholes.

PART TWO – The nose and teeth


1. Draw a nose shape, two large teeth and six
small teeth on coloured paper or origami paper.
2. Draw (or cut out) a mouth on the paper plate.
3. Glue the teeth and nose onto the paper plate.

PART THREE – The horns

1. Fold some origami paper in half.
2. Fold it in half again creating a cone shape.
3. Glue the corners together.
4. Staple the origami horns to the front of the plate.

PART THREE – The ears


1. Cut one left and one right ear shape on
cardboard or origami paper.
2. Staple the ears to the front of the paper plate.

PART FOUR – The hair and beard

1. Glue cotton wool above the eyes.
2. Cut a strip of paper about 2cm by 20cm.
3. Cut ¾ of the way through the strip several times.
4. Then glue the beard on the bottom of the plate.

PART FIVE – Making the mask


1. Cut a two holes in the paper plate (near the ears)
2. Cut a large rubber band in half.
3. Feed the rubber band through one of the holes, then tie a knot.
4. Feed the other side of the rubber band through the other hole, adjust
the size and tie a knot.
Alternative – Glue a paddle pop stick to the bottom of the mask.
