The application of nursing theories helps us in describing the nursing sector as a distinct specialty unique

from others in the industries. Nursing does have its own set of principles and goals that influence
nursing practice. Nursing ideas initially emerged in the late 1800s, when there was a priority on
schooling. Some may suggest that nursing theory could help develop teaching, research, and clinical
skills. "The innovative use of different models, ideas, and concepts from nursing, medical, psychological,
and humanistic disciplines" (DeNisco & Barker, 2016).

Virginia Henderson developed the Nursing Need Theory based on her nursing practice and expertise. As
the major emphasis of nursing practice, this philosophy stresses the fourteen aspects of fundamental
human needs. " Henderson incorporated the notions of basic necessities, bio physiology, society, and
interaction-communication, which provide the model a continuous overview of clients' requirements"
(Ahtisham & Jacoline, 2015). Through a theory termed goal achievement, Imogene King developed a
conceptual framework of interrelated components (personal, interpersonal, and societal systems). This
theory explains the nurse-patient interaction in information transmission, setting objectives, and
implementing changes to achieve those goals. As per King, each individual should be seen as a unique
system that comprises the elements of perception, individuality, development and growth, self-image,
private space, learning, and adapting, as mentioned by AdibHajbaghery and Tahmouresi (2018).
Effective nurse-patient interactions assist nurses in recognizing clients' problems, improving care quality,
and improving clients' quality of life.

Nursing principles are used in all aspects of nursing care and assist the practicing nurse in integrating,
comprehending, and analyzing patient information. Incorporating nursing theory into practical
knowledge as a future healthcare professional would improve the quality of treatment. I will follow
Imogene King's lead and engage with the individual to develop achievable goals that are then
incorporated into the plan of treatment. Working together to develop realistic objectives would help the
patient make independent decisions and achieve better results. It assists me as a practitioner in
assessing the patients' perceptions of their sickness and developing realistic care goals. "Nursing
theories and models give a foundation for critical analysis within the context of healthcare and direct
the logic that nursing professionals require in an age of controlling costs and evidence-based practice"
(DeNisco & Barker, 2016).
