We have to understand how planets work in the chart and what do all these terms specifically represent
and mean.

So, first of all lets see what debilitation and exaltion mean in actual:

Debilitation and exaltation are nothing but a sign that what is actually the state of moment of the planet
and what are his surroundings , and how is he affected by them and does that atmosphere support his
qualities and working system.

Basically EXALTATION SIGN of a planet is nothing but the sign that represents the qualities that uplift the
planet a lot and are compatible to his system so much that he actually gets happy and goes to work
happily and work effectively.

DEBILITATION SIGN is actually the sign which represents actually the qualities and atmosphere that is very
opposite to the nature of the planet so he gets uncomfortable and frustrated and gets irritated.

Simillarly are mool trikon signs ,friendly signs and enemy signs.

Now major thing to note here is that it only shows that what sort of is condition of the planet right now in
psychological perspective….how is the planet basically feeling.

But it does’nt show what is his physical power and strength of this planet right now. For eg if an irritated
person is a body builder and so can break your bones or the person is a skinny guy with no power.

This is the difference the planet is in same psychological condition but wether he is able to give more or
less results of his condition will be decided by his strength , which is shown by planetary avastha.

PLANETARY AVASTHA i.e. bal avastha, kishor avastha ,yuva avastha , vridh avastha, mrit avastha etc….
Show the physical condition of the planet and so a planet literally dead or just born can’t give effects of its
psychological condition of the moment while the guy who is an adult and powerful can punch you in face.
So a debilitated planet is good to be in vridh or mrit or bal avastha cause now he is unable to mess things
up being short in power.

You forgot to mention one most important aspect here that is functional benefic and malefic for a chart
acc to ascendants which is the third part of finding true dignity of each planet.

So its like:

1. Functional benefic or malefic aspect of planet acc to ascendant.

2. Its house position.

3. Its37
sign position. 8

4. Its planetary avastha.

This is correct way to analyze every planet.

Hope you like it….and if you did…do upvote , share and comment.

Thank you.

What is the logic behind the strength of planets based on their position, in degrees? If planets with
higher degrees (say 27 deg) are weak wouldn’t the Atmakaraka for most charts be incapable of

The planet with higher degrees in the birth chart is a very old one and is regarded as the wisest. Being in a
sign for a long time, up to the 29 degrees, a planet's natural qualities and energies are extremely altered,
merged and blended by the sign qualities, energies, elements. The planet absorbs… Read More

None of the planets will stops giving results due to their Awastha. Instead they act & behave according to
their awasthas. When it comes to matter of Atmakaraka, we should consider the relation between Sun the

Wait wait wait! Take a step back and understand. Baladi avashtas (Infant, youth, adolescent, old and dead)
