Farm tools and machines are equipments used to make the farming process easier, faster and more

productive.

In the early 19th century, animals were the chief source of power in farming. Later in the century, steam
power gained in importance. During World War I gasoline- (petrol-) powered tractors became common,
and diesel engines later became prevalent. In the developed countries, the number of farm workers has
steadily declined in the 20th century, while farm production has increased because of the use of
machinery.

Mowers

A mower is a machine that cuts (mows) grass or other plants that grow on the ground. Usually, mowing
is distinguished from reaping, which uses similar implements, but is the traditional term for harvesting
grain crops. Choose from a push-behind mower, a riding mower, a zero-turn mower, a belly-mounted
mower or a pull-behind mower for keeping up with the maintenance of your lawn or pastures. If you are
making hay, you might want a sickle-bar mower, a drum mower, or a disc mower. For large areas, there
are brush mowers, batwing mowers and flail mowers to consider for your collection of farm equipment.

Backhoe

Backhoes are also great for digging fence post holes or minor excavation jobs such as digging small
ponds and water features. If you need tools for digging holes, then a backhoe is the right equipment for
you. Backhoes are available as separate hydraulic implements for different types of tractors.

Harrow

Harrows are designed to be pulled behind a tractor or ATV in order to level the soil surface.

Cultivator

The main function of the cultivator is to prepare a proper seedbed for the crop to be planted, to bury
crop residue in the soil (helping to warm the soil before planting), to control weeds, to mix and
incorporate the soil to ensure the growing crop has enough water and nutrients to grow well during the
growing season. The equipment has many shanks mounted on the underside of a metal frame, and
small narrow rods at the rear of the machine that smooth out the soil surface for easier travel later
when planting.
Rakes

Rakes are essential if you are making hay and come in several different types, including wheel rakes,
parallel-bar rakes, rotary rates, and belt rakes.

Tractor

Tractors are available in different sizes, and they are highly versatile pieces of farm equipment.
Certainly, you'll want to choose the one which has just the right amount of horsepower and the right
hitch rating for the work that you are planning to use it for. A two-wheeled tractor - known as a walk-
behind tractor, can be used along with the range of attachments, including a hay baler, a rototiller,
seeder, wagon, bed shaper, and more.

Combine Harvester

The modern combine harvester, or simply combine, is a versatile machine designed to efficiently harvest
a variety of grain crops. The name is derived from combining three separate harvesting operations;
reaping, threshing, and winnowing into a single process. Among the crops harvested with a combine are
wheat, oats, rye, barley, corn (maize), sorghum, soybeans, flax (linseed), sunflowers and canola. The
separated straw, left lying on the field, comprises the stems and any remaining leaves of the crop with
limited nutrients left in it: the straw is then either chopped, spread on the field and ploughed back in or
baled for bedding and limited-feed for livestock.

Sprayer:

Sprayer is a piece of equipment that is used to apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers on agricultural
crops. Sprayers range in sizes; from man-portable units (typically backpacks with spray guns) to trailed
sprayers that are connected to a tractor

ChainSaw:

Chainsaws are of great value and widely used in agricultural sites, and other areas were necessary. They
are identified by their rotating teeth which are attached to a rotating chain on a guide bar. A cylinder
engine with a battery pack or gasoline is essential to power the chainsaw. Chainsaws are portable,
handheld machines that can be used for a variety of woodwork/metalwork. These versatile devices can
cut any material, regardless of how large or thick it is. Chainsaw is a dangerous tool and must be used
with precaution.
Brush Cutter:

A brushcutter (also called a brush saw or clearing saw) is a powered garden or agricultural tool used to
trim weeds, small trees, and other foliage not accessible by a lawn mower or rotary mower. Various
blades or trimmer heads can be attached to the machine for specific applications.

Saw Mill:

A sawmill or lumber mill is a facility where logs are cut into lumber. Modern sawmills use a motorized
saw to cut logs lengthwise to make long pieces, and crosswise to length depending on standard or
custom sizes (dimensional lumber). The "portable" sawmill is of simple operation. The log lies flat on a
steel bed, and the motorized saw cuts the log horizontally along the length of the bed by the operator
manually pushing the saw. The most basic kind of sawmill consists of a chainsaw and a customized jig
with similar horizontal operation.
