LEARNING OPPORTUNITY 4-5

Directions: Based on your understanding, what are the emerging literary forms or genres of modern
times? How do these new forms differ from the common ones? Express these thoughts through an
essay of 5 to 20 - sentence essay.

There are a number of emerging literary forms in modern times and these
include: hyperpoetry, holopoetry, fan fiction, flash fiction, doodle fiction,
metafiction, and more. More commonly, we often see textula, digi-fiction,
and blogs-- especially in social media.

One of the major things that make them unique from common or
traditional literary forms is the prevalent use of technology to make and
publish them. Truly, technology can now be considered as a literary tool. I
also saw that there is more freedom in the way writers make these literary
works, may it be freedom in expression or freedom in structure/form.
Lastly, I noticed that they are shorter and less complex than common
literary genres. I suppose this is because oftentimes, the writers of these
modern genres aim for their audience to easily understand their work and
get their message immediately.
