Abstract:
• People tend to overshoot their budget when they are shopping at a big shopping
center. Moreover they end up in long queues atthe end of their shopping waiting
for the products to be scanned and billed.
• The Smart Shopping Cart addresses the above problemswith ease.
• It helps the customer in ensuring that he does not overshoot his pre decided budget
and only buys the essential commodities actually needed by him, also the system
aids in eliminating the long queues at the billing counter as the products are
already scanned and the customer just has to pay the bill and bag the items
purchased.
• The system is profitable for the shopping centers as it can help in reducing the
number of billing counters and in turn will help in reducing employee costs
significantly.

I. INTRODUCTION

i) Aims : Implementation of Secure Smart Cart for Automatic Detection of Objects

using Arduino and RFID

The aim is to design a microcontroller-based shopping cart aiding the customers in their shopping and
reducing the queue at the billing counter. The system must also have a feature to delete a purchased
product in case the customer changes his/her mind. There is also a need of a centralized database which
contains the cost of all the products in the shopping market. This paper helps in eliminating or reducing
the above mentioned problems substantially.

ii) Objective:
 Online Authentication for users can be implemented.
 Every CART will be having a unique ID number to distinguish between the carts and the persons
using it .
 Use of Motion Sensor can be implemented to automatically detect the motion for addig and
removing of objects.
 Use of Weight Sensor can be implemented as a additional security feature to keep track of objects in
the cart.
 Online Registration can be implement to keep track of user information in databse.
 User can only be able to use the cart if he/she uses the OTP provided on the registered email id.
iii) Problem Statement:

All over India, currently at every shop or mall while purchasing any product, customer have to go to
billing counter and there anemployee of that particular shop or mall scan the RFID tag or barcode and
then generate bill.

. After that we have to pay by cash or credit or debit card.

. It is time consuming .
. Need access of staff.
. It is difficult to keep the record of consumer.
. Some times lacks in the security .

iv) Scope of Problem:

There is also a scope of improvement, a feature where a customer can feed in the shopping list which
will enable the customernot to miss out on any item.In the current market, this shopping cart stands apart
from the existing designs due to a variety of features. One reason is that it stands apart from the
conventional method of bar code scanning where an item has to be in the line of sight whereas using
RFID reader it just has to be in the vicinity and it would be detected.

1) in this paper trolley has done this with a pre-built RFID reader. Such readers can read RFID tags
in which the product information is present. Each product will have an RFID tag in supermarkets that
holds full details about that product such as price, number, etc

12)Smart Trolley using Smart Phone and Arduino

January 2017Journal of Electrical & Electronic Systems 06(02)

1) the RFID tag is attached to the customer’s membership card which is given to their loyalty customers
by the supermarket.

2) The barcode that is sent to Arduino through the Bluetooth module is created with the aid of a
barcode scanner.
13) Modelling of Future Automatic Trolley System
GRD Journals | Global Research and Development Journal for Engineering | National Conference on
Emerging Research Trend in Electrical and

Electronics Engineering (ERTE’19) | May 2019

1) The proposed system starts to work when a customer gets into the mall and takes the trolley. Each
trolley has its own RFID reader. So, the trolley follows the customer who has the corresponding RFID
card called a customer card

2) . The movement of the system is controlled by the ultrasonic sensor and RFID tag. The QR scanner,
which uses image processing, reads the QR code of the product taken by the customer and displays the
price and other product information

III.PROPOSED PLAN OF WORK

i) Project Scope:

The planned sensible looking out tram System intends to assist looking out in-person that is in a position
minimize the wide amount of it slow spent in looking out nonetheless on time required in locating the
desired product with ease.

The consumer merely should kind the name of the merchandise he desires to book on the automaton
device, and so the cart will mechanically guide him/her to the product/s locations.

Smart cart will be interfaced with wireless technologies to form it fully transportable within the close to
future. Payment of bills victimization mobile will be enforced.

A coffee value RFID scanner will be factory-made and used which may scan multiple tags (products) at
the same time for quicker process and lesser resources. Automatic scanning & accessibility of product
will be introduced. Pay programming feature are going to be the most recent trend in coming years
attributable to the boost within the E-commerce bussiness.
ii) Proposed Methodology:
1. Module names
ii) Significance of the project:

The 'Smart Cart' has been developed to enable shoppers to bypass the traditional checkout lane, one of
the key friction points within shopping trips. The cart's technology scans and weighs products as
customers place them inside. It keeps a running total of purchases and enables customers to pay directly
via the cart.

Smart trolley contains a camera and load cell which will scan the product and measure the product
weight and display all the information in the LCD screen. It helps the customer to get the bill for their
purchase in a flexible manner.

The proposed smart shopping trolley system intends to assist shopping in-person which will minimize
the considerable amount of time spent in shopping as well as to time required in locating the desired
product with ease.

The customer just needs to type the name of the product he wants to search on the android device, and
the cart will automatically guide him/her to the product/s locations.
iv) Techniques/ Tools required for Development

Hardware interaction –
 RFID Reader :-

A radio frequency identification reader (RFID reader) is a device used to gather information from an
RFID tag, which is used to track individual objects. Radio waves are used to transfer data from the tag to
a reader.

 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) :-

LCD is a flat display technology, stands for "Liquid Crystal Display," which is generally used in
computer monitors, instrument panels, cell phones, digital cameras, TVs, laptops, tablets, and
calculators. It is a thin display device that offers support for large resolutions and better picture quality.

 Push buttons/Switch :-

Pushbutton switch is exactly what the name implies: an electrical switch actuated by a person’s
hand motion. These may take the form of toggle, pushbutton, rotary, pull-chain, etc.

 Reset button :-

A push button is a button that can reset a device.

 Wi-Fi module :-

WiFi Module is a self contained SOC with integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that can give any
microcontroller access to your WiFi network. The ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an application or
offloading all WiFi networking functions from another application processor

 PIC microcontroller :-

It is controlled by software and programmed in such a way that it performs different tasks and controls a
generation line.

 Visual Indicator (Red and Green LED):-

independently switched 10mm jumbo LEDs this unit can clearly display red or green indications. With a
low current input to switch each LED independently

Software interaction –
Front End:-HTML,CSS

Back End :- Python PHP

Framework:-Angular Js ,Django

Mail Service:- SMTP(Simple m)

Data base:-POSTGRESQL
Conclusion

This product has been designed and completed. Both the programming and the hardware design have

been completed successfully and we have been successful in making all the functions work. The cart

housing, all the components has been designed and the components are fixed into it. There is also a

scope of improvement, a feature where a customer can feed in the shopping list which will enable the

customernot to miss out on any item.In the current market, this shopping cart stands apart from the

existing designs due to a variety of features. One reason is that it stands apart from the conventional

method of bar code scanning where an item has to be in the line of sight whereas using RFID reader it

just has to be in the vicinity and it would be detected. The cart will enable the customer to scan the items

and get the total bill instantly. This would reduce the checkout time of a customer from the billing

counter. An added advantage for the shop owner is that there is reduced amount of man power required

at thebilling counter. Hence, the Smart Shopping Cart stands apart from existing designs
