I’ve known a farmer in Pingkian, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya named Bregidor Almendral. He is the father-in
law of my boss, a kind, hardworking man by himself. He told me; he spent more years in running his
farm to finance his family needs.

With his determination and courage, he grows various crop to earn profit and successfully gain for a
living. His sacrifices paid off when his son and daughters graduated and become professional licensed
teachers.
Those long years of farming taught him the accurate procedures of tilling and other land preparations.
He continuously learns from actually engaging himself through performing the task rather than hiring a
labourer.

According to him, the initial thing to do is to clean the land area, then followed by the tilling, specifically
the primary one. Next is to wait for about a week to perform the secondary tilling so that the land can
absorb the water and contain the moisture to loosen before another tilling.

Farming isn’t easy to deal with when it comes to the preparation there are variation of prices on the
machines or implements needed to purchase for the operations. That’s why he had to ensure the safety
and cleanliness to guarantee the maintenance of the certain machines or implements to prevent
bankruptcy on the capital.

The important value which Mr. Almendral shared with me is the consistency, for he was been farming
for about many decades.
