TITLE: WASH IN SCHOOL PROGRAM


(Intensifying Wash In School Program’s Information, Education And
Communication Materials)

I. RATIONALE:

The Department of Education issues DepEd Memorandum No. 68, s. 2021 or


the additional Guidelines on the implementation of DepEd Order No. 10, s. 2016
(Policy and Guidelines for Comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools
(WinS) Program). And these additional guidelines aim to reinforce and strengthen
the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program monitoring and
implementation.
Department of Education Order number 15, series of 2020, re: Supplementary
Guidelines on Managing Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses Allocation for
Schools to support the Implementation of Basic Education learning Continuity Plan
in Time of COVID-19 Pandemic in connection with the unnumbered Memorandum dated
January 27, 2020, 2019 Novel Corona Virus (2019-nCoV) that all schools are to
strictly observe proper hygiene and sanitation practices among its learners.

In adherence to the Unnumbered Office Order 00-0SEC-2022, the interim


guidelines on the expansion of limited face-to-face classes. The main protocols and
standards in the DepEd-DOH Joint Memorandum Circular 001, s. 2021 shall remain
applicable as appropriate, until a Revised Joint Memorandum along with the DepEd
Implementation Guidelines are issued containing the details of implementation of
the expansion phase. Regional Directors are directed to ensure that all schools are
assessed for readiness using SSAT and shall take appropriate steps to address the
challenges encountered by the schools in complying with SSAT standard, we initiate
these activities in response to the needs of providing information for awareness,
eliminating mythical beliefs, and campaigning the cause for health and development
for school personnel, teachers, learners, parents and other stakeholders and that
enable individuals to play an active role in achieving, protecting and sustaining their
own health, in connection to proper sanitation and hygiene practices, menstrual
health management and food safety to prevent the spread of this Corona virus
disease.
With this proposal, we aim to intensify advocacy, information dissemination to
help prevent school community virus transmission of COVID 19 especially during
these days of the implementation of Distance Learning Education and in preparation
for the face to face classes.

II. OBJECTIVES:

1. Produce IEC materials that will last long to instill the advocacy for quality
health and safety reminders.
2. Provide information for health and safety awareness.
3. Campaign for the cause for health and development.
