1. DEFENITION
a. A proverb is a simple and concrete saying popularly known and repeated, which express a
truth, based on commonsense or humans’ practical experience.
b. A proverb is a short popular saying that gives advice about how people should behave and
expresses a belief that is generally thought to be true.
c. Proverbs are wise words which are often metaphorical or symbolic and showing some
truth about a situation, a person, or an object.
2. FUNCTIONS/ PURPOSES
a. To comment on a situation.
b. To respond to some events.
c. To deliver moral lessons.
d. To give an advice.
e. To give a warning.
