Executive Summary:

Gilgit Baltistan which is also known as the northern part of Pakistan, is a place for some of highest
mountains in the world. its famous for beautiful landscape, deep valleys and treacherous roads.
Ghizer valley is the most beautiful valley of Gilgit Baltistan. It is paradise on earth and is a land of colorful
water, dotted with trees, deep blue sky, and green fields. The people of Ghizer valley are peaceful,
hospitable, and polite. Unfortunately, Ghizer valley is facing many challenges in the field of health,
treacherous roads and education. These are the three major issues I have highlighted and I hope you will
consider these in the next year’s PSDP. Ghizer is the most populated district in Gilgit Baltistan with limited
health centers, hospitals and lack of well qualified doctors. Although government dispensaries are
available there with insufficient medicines and poor facilities.

Secondly, treacherous roads are the cause of fatal accidents. Hundreds of people have lost their lives
and some are deadly injured in this year. On average almost every day a fatal accident happens due to
these dangerous roads.

Thirdly, Ghizer has a poor state of education system. There are few schools in far flung areas which are
not easily accessed to every student. There is only one university for the population of 1.5 million in Gilgit
Baltistan. that’s why people move to urban areas of Pakistan to get quality education.

Recommendations;

1- Government should make sure the proper health facilities such as medical equipment, well qualified
doctors and nurses, availability of ambulances and should constructs new hospitals in far flung sides of
Gilgit Baltistan. Some NGOs are active and working efficiently in these areas, government collaborations
with these NGOs will be highly appreciated.

2- for treacherous road, government should construct new road by expert engineers. Local people should
be given minor task for construction of new road. Collaboration with CPEC will be fruitful for good
infrastructure.

3- Providing well qualified teachers and upgradation of primary schools into high schools are very
important. Building new education centers in almost every village is highly recommended.

Conclusions

Gilgit Baltistan has been plagued by countless issues since independence. One can witness inadequate
facilities in the health , roads and education sectors. Only one university for 1.5million population is evidence of the
poor state of education affairs. these issues which are highlighted should be quickly take into consideration
for the next year's PSDP so that people of far flung areas could be save from deadly disease , get quality
education and can move to another places safely.
