Causes of attempting suicide

 When it comes to determine what causes suicide, there are several reasons why a
person would want to take his life.

 However, a few leading causes account for a majority of suicide each year.
Mental health issues

 Severe depression:
The most common cause of suicide is depression; a sense of suffering
and hopelessness about escaping the pain, making them unable to see another way to
relieve the pain other than ending their own life.

 Bipolar disorder:
Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that causes changes in a person's mood,
energy, and ability to function. Bipolar disorder can disrupt a person’s relationships with
loved ones and cause difficulty in working.
• Traumatic Stress

 A person who has had a traumatic experience, including childhood sexual abuse, rape,
physical abuse, or war trauma, is at a greater risk for suicide, even many years after the
trauma.
 Loss or Fear of Loss

 Being arrested or imprisoned
 End of a close friendship or romantic relationship

Chronic Pain and Illness

 If a person has chronic pain or illness with no hope of a cure or reprieve from suffering,
