1. How is health ethics related to nursing?

 The nursing code of ethics helps caregivers consider patient needs from several viewpoints and
maintain a safe recovery environment. Ethical guidelines remind caregivers to treat all people
equitably and individually while protecting the privacy rights of patients in ways that may not
seem overtly obvious. These recommendations also call on caregivers to advocate and seek justice
for those in their care, and to take full responsibility for their work as nurses. Nurses need to
practice professional humility and flexible thinking. The nursing code of ethics encourages
healthcare professionals to incorporate these moral guidelines into their personal lives as well.
The code of ethics can help nurses remember that each patient has a unique background and
unique needs.

2. Meaning & causes of suicide

 Suicide is death caused by injuring oneself with the intent to die. A suicide attempt is when
someone harms themselves with any intent to end their life, but they do not die as a result of
their actions. Suicide is voluntary, taking a person’s own life. It can occur in every country, society,
and culture in the world. It is a leading cause of early mortality in our society. Hence, it is a serious
public health problem and a massive tragedy for the victims’ families and friends.

Causes of suicide:

 Mental health problems

 Bullying, prejudice or stigma, such as relating to your race, gender, disability or sexual identity
 Different types of abuse, including domestic, sexual or physical abuse
 Bereavement, including losing a loved one to suicide
 Long-term physical pain or illness
 Housing problems, including homelessness
 Isolation or loneliness
 Feeling inadequate or a failure
 Addiction or substance abuse
 Pregnancy, childbirth or postnatal depression
 Society's expectations and Other forms of trauma

3. Give your own evaluation of the moral issue of suicide and explain whether you are for or against it.

 Suicide raises two major moral issues: first, whether suicide is morally permissible, and if so, under
what conditions; and second, whether a person who knows someone is contemplating or
attempting suicide has an obligation to intervene, and if so, how strong that obligation is.
Regarding the first point, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that suicide is not inherently wrong.
It is incorrect to define suicide as self-murder. Suicide is a sin, and I am against it. It is not the
"greatest" sin in God's eyes, it is no worse than other evil and it does not determine a person's
eternal fate because God is the only one who can make a decision when and how a person should
die.
