1. REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

In order to be admitted to the degree programme, you have to participate in the selection
procedure.
There are three selection procedures (i.e. intakes) and a possible fourth one in case of available
positions. For all the intakes you have to meet the deadlines indicated in the General Calendar.
In order to participate in the admission procedure, you have to fulfil the admission requirements
indicated in the paragraph 1.1 “Admission requirements”.
You can find a summary of the steps required to apply at the end of the present call for
applications.

1.1. Admission reqirements

You are admitted in the selection procedure (and enrol in the degree programme) if:

• You hold one of the following qualifications:

o a 5-year high-school diploma awarded by institutions of upper secondary education
(including high-school diplomas awarded by educational institutions and artistic high-
schools with an additional annual supplementary programme) or a bachelor’s degree.
o a pilot 4-year high-school diploma issued by an institute admitted to the 4-year
secondary high school trial.
o 4-year high-school diploma awarded by institutions of upper secondary education
where the additional supplementary year is not active. In this case, you have to fulfil a
specific additional learning activity at the University of Bologna by March 31 st 2024. If
you fail you will be enrolled in the 1st year again also for the following academic year;
o Qualification obtained abroad, after twelve years of schooling, allowing the admission
to the University and to the chosen degree programme in the country where the
qualification was issued, according to the established rules - see Circular of the
Ministry of University and Research - MUR for the academic year 2022-2023 that will
be published on the http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ website and the
detailed information on the University Portal:
https://www.unibo.it/en/teaching/enrolment-transfer-and-final-
examination/enrolling-in-first-or-single-cycle-degree-programme-foreign-qualification
You can enrol in the selection procedure (and in the degree programme if you are admitted)
even if you have not completed your qualification yet, but you have to obtain it within
December 30th, 2022 otherwise the enrolment will be cancelled.

• You have taken the English TOLC-E test or the SAT-General Test.
The English TOLC-E test is organized and managed by CISIA and you have to take it within the
deadlines established in the General Calendar for each intake. You have to enrol in the English
TOLC-E test on the website www.cisiaonline.it, where you can find the procedures to enrol

-6-
and the test dates. You can take the test in any of the Universities members of CISIA, both in
person and online (TOLC@HOME).
If you participate with a TOLC test that is not the English TOLC-E test (for ex, the TOLC-E test
held in Italian) you will be excluded from the selection procedure.
The SAT-General Test is organized by the College Board www.collegeboard.org and you can
take it in any of the SAT Centres in Italy or abroad.
You do not have to take the ESSAY of the SAT-General Test because it does not supply any
additional points.

The English TOLC-E test and the SAT-General Test are valid if they have not been taken before
01/December/2019. The scores declared by the candidates within the deadline established for
each intake (see the General Calendar) will be taken into consideration for the selection
procedure.

A good proficiency (B2 level at least) in English is required. Candidates are considered to have met
the language requirement by passing a test in English (English TOLC-E or SAT)
