1. Introduction

The majority of things have altered as a result of Covid-19. People

like us are concerned about the future, investments, side hustles,
and inflation. And today, with the impending recession, many are
concerned about how much money they will lose and how they will
grow.

Let me share some data with you: according to CNBC, around 47

million individuals leave their employment last year, and this number
is expected to rise further. Rising inflation and income-related
factors are two significant reasons for this.

Yes, I am concerned, which is why I am taking simple action. One of

them is making more money.

And there are several ways to make additional money. From

becoming a delivery guy to designing websites, selling digital items,
or even starting a side business based on your career, there are
several options.

To be more specific, I am a programmer, and I generally talk about

programming because I know a little bit about it and can also assist
others to become involved and earn money.

So, today, I’d like to write a new piece on the side hustles that you
may perform as a programmer. Yes, these side hustles will demand
some knowledge, and you must work even if it will not make you a
millionaire overnight, but it can in a few years.

Also, I don’t want to discuss freelancing, blogging, producing

YouTube videos, or anything else.
It will simply be a side hustle book in which I will share with you
some strategies to generate money through side hustles. Yes, I will
even share with you proof that people like us are generating money
from it. And how you can get started.

Note: This book contains no affiliate links, and I was not

compensated to endorse any website. So don’t worry about me
writing anything pointless only to sell you something.

Over the previous several years, I’ve dabbled in a variety of sectors,

picked up a few new skills, launched a handful of side hustles, and
met some brilliant individuals.

And as a result of all of this, I’ve learned a lot more. We now have a
network of like-minded people who help each other make or
increase our money.

Let me give you an example: one of my friends is constantly trying to

invest in stocks, and when he discovers something intriguing, he
shares it with us so that we may put money into it for a few weeks
or months.

One is a tech entrepreneur who discussed the most recent

technological trends and how we might invest in them. We invested
part of our money in decentralized land as a result of his advice and
learned a lot more about Web3.

We believe that sharing with others allows us to learn a lot more,

uncover the finest opportunities, and earn a lot more.

Let’s begin.
2. Earn Money from Selling Code

Yes, you read that correctly. Some websites might assist you in
earning money by selling codes.

But how exactly? Some artists, entrepreneurs, and company owners

require websites for their work. And for that, they must engage a
freelancer, use WordPress or another website editor, or purchase
websites.

Well, someone has to sell in order to purchase a website. And the

seller is a programmer, more specifically a developer.

Git Market and Codecanyon, for example, are two places where you
can sell your code. It is a website that provides website and app
code. There are thousands of PHP scripts, mobile app templates,
HTML5 templates, JavaScript code, and other resources.

There are several websites and app codes to choose from. For
example, if you want to create an e-commerce store, you may pay
Codecanyon and get your e-commerce website or app.

What else is there to say? You do not have to pay $1000. There are
several websites that sell codes ranging in price from $5 to $50.
Similarly, you may develop websites, applications, or plugins and sell
them on CodeCanyon or GitMarket.

Assume you are a web developer, and you can make money by
selling your website codes. It will take no time but will assist you in
earning more money.

Sounds great, right?

3. Selling Templates on Notion

To be honest, I haven’t sold any Notion templates yet. Yes, I’ve sold
Canva templates, digital items on Gumroad and Etsy, and code on
Codecanyon.

The first thought that came to me was whether anyone had received
money via Notion. And the answer was even more unexpected than
you had anticipated.

Here’s an example from real life.

So, one of the readers notified me that he had made roughly $1,500
in the preceding three months using Notion.

Isn’t that great? Every day, after 2–3 hours of work.

Secondly, I found a guy on Twitter named Easlo claiming that he

earned $1,000 this month from Notion.

So, if you want to get started or learn more about it, you may watch
some YouTube tutorials.
4. Developing websites with Design to Code
Platforms
As you may know, I have been developing websites and have learned
a lot along the way, including Front-end development, Back-end
development, managing databases, making admin panels, and even
UI/UX design.

I also have to spend time finding new clients, publishing online, and
doing other things.

In comparison, I have limited time, therefore I must manage my job

carefully.

It was at this point that I decided to explore Design to Code

platforms. These are just free or paid applications that will assist
you in converting your design into codes.

Yes, there are several platforms available, including Sketch2Code,

Bravo, Supernova, Monday Hero, Webflow, Anima, Fronty, Bubble, and
many others.

And it was effective.

So, if you are an experienced developer who does not have time to
turn a design into code or who wants to adapt your design into code,
you may utilize any of these platforms. And, to be honest, I have
boosted my profits as a result of these sites.

Let’s speak about how to get started with this side hustle and
generate money.
To be honest, you should learn web design and web development.

After then, you may use these platforms to work smarter.

Some of you may be wondering why learn web development? The
short answer is that you must modify the code(most of the time) and
it works best if you know what you’re doing.

There are also other no-code systems available. Carrd may also be
used to develop a simple single-page website for your needs.
Carrd’s core functionality and the creation of three sites per
account are free.
5. Become an Online Creator
What if I told you that the creator economy has more money than
the rest of the world combined?

And did you know that programmers enjoy a plethora of additional

benefits?

The following are the two explanations behind this:

Top firms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and even Medium are
investing in hiring more creators. You may be aware that
LinkedIn has introduced a creator mode, and that Medium has
acquired Knowable in order to add audio to the site.
Programmers are in high demand, so if you know how to code,
you can teach, help, provide value, and earn money.

And what you want to do is absolutely up to you. You may create

YouTube lessons and courses to sell on sites like Skillshare and
Udemy.

You can publish on Medium instead of making videos if you don’t

want to do them. You may also create content about newly funded,
purchased, or launched technology or enterprises.

According to my experience, you will make a lot of money, and your

earnings will grow as you provide more value.

What is the best way to get started? Begin with what you know now;
you don’t need to be an expert.

Let me tell you a sobering truth. For starters, you will not make any
money in your first year.
One reason for this is that you are still in the learning stage and must
focus on learning new methods and creating value.

Beginning in the second year, you will earn a lot, literally a lot. However,
keep in mind that with great power comes great responsibility. And it
is absolutely up to you how you approach and achieve.

Let me show you my earnings from Medium.

6. Use Themeforest to sell Figma Designs
I believe it is the most basic side hustle that anyone can learn and
earn money from.

As a developer, I am constantly dealing with designs and converting

them into code. But I was surprised to learn that designing Figma
themes can help you earn money.

You don’t even need to find a client or market your designs

everywhere. Themeforest is a website that handles everything and
charges you a commission on every sale.

Isn’t that a good deal?

Let’s talk about how to get started with this side hustle and make
money.

The only thing you have to learn is web design or UI/UX design.
There are numerous courses available even YouTube can help you
to learn.

Allow me to give you an example. Assume you want to sell it on the

internet. Before you do that, consider what the best designers are
doing to increase their earnings. A little investigation can help you
stand out.

I receive ideas from competitors on a website called Themeforest.

As a consequence, the top three designs are presented below. You

may learn a variety of tactics from them, such as how to produce
eye-catching designs, how to market your products, and much more.
The first design, as you can see, costs $32 and has sold 298 copies
so far. So nearly $9,500 in total (from which the designer has to pay
some tax and some commission).

Much more than we could have dreamed, don’t you think?

To be honest, it may take several years for the designers, but you
should recognize that producing money is possible. It’s also a plus if
you can make $500 from a single design.
7. Use Canva for Graphic Design
To be honest, it is also a basic side hustle that can be taught quickly,
and earn money in a variety of ways.

You may also use it to create YouTube thumbnails, videos,

presentations, resumes, Instagram posts, certificates, logos,
business cards, and a variety of other things. So, no matter what
business you operate in, Canva may be of assistance.

Now, let me tell you how you can turn it into a side hustle. You can
use Canva to become a graphic designer and earn money.

Some of you may be wondering what a graphic designer does. It is

simple, Graphic designers use computer software or by hand to
develop visual designs that inspire, inform, and fascinate customers.
They provide the overall design and layout for applications such as
ads, brochures, publications, and reports.

And, as we’ve seen, it’s simple to create with Canva.

Assume you want to sell Figma themes, and you require stunning
photos and graphic design skills, which Canva can provide.

The next strategy is to sell templates on Canva.

Let me ask you, who is responsible for the Canva templates?

Designers like us, and you can be one of them. Canva Creators is a
place where you may apply to sell templates on Canva if accepted.

They are presently only collaborating with a few creators. You may
apply if you know how to design. The Canva team will send you an
email at some time.
The Canva team intends to formally launch it in the future so that
most creators may make money from their work.

I’ve also met people who make a profession by teaching Canvas to

their clients. You can also make money by creating Canva designs
and selling them on Canva or Gumroad.

How do you get started?

If you have any design experience, you can get started right away.
Even if you don’t, go to Canva and create some designs and
templates, as well as watch some YouTube videos and read some
books.
8. Make a paid forum or a paid programming
newsletter
When I first started thinking about investing in the stock market, I
went to several of my friends to learn more about it.

At the time, I learned that certain stock market specialists maintain

a Telegram channel and demand a fee to be a part of their group. In
their paid group, they give some important information and
recommend various companies.

And I was surprised to see that some of them have over 50,000
paying subscribers. In other words, if they charge $5 per month to a
single user, they may make more than $250,000 each month.

To be sure, there are many scammers in the stock market. However,

as a programmer, you may create a community and assist others. If
people find your information useful, they will undoubtedly pay you
for it.

Discord, for example, may be of assistance. Medium is a good

alternative even if you produce technical stuff.

Medium is one of my side projects. Every month, with the aid of

Medium, I make close to $2,000, and it’s rising. Similarly, several of
my friends have a significant following on Substack and may easily
earn $10,000 every month.

How then can you begin this side business?

It’s obvious that you need some domain expertise. And from there, a
community may be formed. You may create a community for nothing
at first.
9. Engage in Programming Competitions

If you have programming skills, or if you are familiar with web

development, hacking, or data science. You may compete in
programming contests. And believe me, you will always win. Yes, I am
quite certain of what I am writing.

Let me show you how. Assume you are familiar with cybersecurity,
commonly known as hacking, and you enter a competition. There is a
lot of competition out there, and finding them is not difficult.

As a result, it works as a side hustle for you. And it is not always

about winning money; you may win or lose the competition, but you
will always learn something new, which simply means you have
gained some more knowledge that can lead to success.

Similarly, if you are skilled in any programming language, companies

such as Topcoder, HackerRank, and many more host coding
competitions.

As a result, you may participate and learn something new. I normally

enter one or two web development competitions each month. It
allows me to learn about my talents, how others solve difficulties,
the latest technology that people are utilizing, and much more.

I understand that winning money in a competition is not simple.

Freshers cannot compete with those who have a lot of experience

and expertise.

However, you may gain experience and develop abilities that will
enable you to earn more money.
10. Sell an API as a Service

Selling APIs is one of the newest and most popular side hustles to
undertake. Furthermore, because web developers typically use APIs,
they are not required to master new technologies.

Developers may earn money by selling API on services such as

RapidAPI.

To be honest, I had no knowledge about selling APIs, so I watched a

YouTube video and discovered that it is a great concept.

There are several examples that individuals like us are making

money like Gareth Fuller built a really simple oil-price API. And,
according to his Twitter tweet, he’s making a lot more money.
Despite the fact that I have spoken with several of the firms, they
have told me that they typically have 15–20 clients per month that
want API services.

Let me now discuss how you may get started.

First and foremost, you must master web development. And will
eventually have to deal with APIs.

That’s all there is to it; you may subsequently develop and sell API
services.
11. Crypto, Defi, NFT, and Virtual Lands

Most engineers work at top IT businesses and even startups, so

they are well-versed in technologies such as cryptocurrency and
stock.

As a result, the vast majority of developers will be able to create

anything related to Crypto, NFTs, and other hot technologies.

You may also be aware that NFTs, Defi, and Virtual Land are
generating a lot of attention. Not to mention the new Metaverse
invention.

For this aim, you can also master Blockchain technology. Also,
provide a service that the vast majority of people require.

As a result, if you are a developer, you have an edge when it comes

to learning about new technology and making money from it.

Without a doubt, you must delve more into these technologies.

12. Selling the Products

You’ve probably heard of Amazon KDP, Redbubble, Gumroad, Etsy,

and other marketplaces where people sell their items in order to
gain money every time someone buys them.

My friend John suggested that I write an 80–100-page book and then

submit it to Amazon KDP. And I tested it, and you’ll be astonished to
hear that I get a Kindle commission every month.

My buddy George, who has a sizable Twitter following, had also made
his first book available for free on Gumroad. The bulk of clients,
though, paid for it.

Within three months, he collected $656.

In addition, my friend Alia works full-time and tries to create t-shirts

and cushions. So she sold some of the designs on Redbubble,
Teespring, and Zazzle, earning roughly $2341 in five months.

Similarly, if you have something to make, you may do it freely and

sell it in a variety of ways.
13. Become an Online Consultant

I always attempt to learn something from an expert, no matter what

industry they are in. And even, I keep on updating my readers about
it.

Similarly, if you have specialized knowledge, you may generate

money advising a business or firm.

Let me give you an example from my own experience. Six months

ago, one of the LinkedIn businesses approached me and said they
were seeking a consultant with some Web programming experience.
I asked for more information from them.

So they informed me that they need a developer that can help their
developers when they run into a major difficulty and be there at the
client conference to answer some of the customer’s questions.

That’s all there is to it. I’m not required to code or work from 9 to 5.
And I agreed because I’m familiar with Next.js and React.js, so it was
simple for me.

Others of my friends, such as Sam, charge an hourly amount for

advice. Furthermore, some firms hire him to update the best
technology stack for their purposes.

Isn’t it cool? I understand that as a beginning, you won’t be able to

go deeper into these side hustles.

However, at an intermediate level, you can experiment with this

form of side hustle.
14. Make an NFT Marketplace, Industry, or Apps

When I see headlines like Why an Animated Flying Cat With a Pop-
Tart Body Sold for Almost $600,000, I become a little nervous. I
assumed that the notion of NFTs was a ruse and that it was reliant
on luck.

Maybe you’re thinking the same thing about these. However, the
majority of us are mistaken.

The notion of NFTs is far more than we ever imagined; if

implemented correctly, it has the potential to disrupt a number of
sectors. Beyond digital artworks, NFT may be applied in a variety of
ways.

Assuring the authenticity of items, for example. Fake food goods,

such as supplements and medication, are a current concern around
the globe; NFTs can assist tackle this by tracking and tracing food
products. Imagine scanning a QR code on a nutritional supplement
you purchased online and viewing the supplement’s full path, from
manufacture to delivery.

Even musicians may employ smart contract technology to transfer

their copyrights to NFTs, ensuring that they are paid every time
their song is played.

And there are also plenty of more examples.

Why is it so simple? Because others aren’t making good use of NFTs.

As a result, if you’re a programmer, you may build an NFT
marketplace for a variety of purposes.
15. Becoming a Web3 Developer

I’m a web developer who is interested in the technology that

underpins Web3, Blockchain, and the metaverse, which is generating
such a stir in our society.

What’s more intriguing is that becoming a web3 developer is

straightforward for a web developer like myself.

I don’t need to learn a lot of new technology; all I need to know is

how to use Solidity, Truffle, and Ganache with web technologies.
According to numerous polls, the vast majority of people are
uninformed of Defi, Web3, or CBDC.

Also, don’t think about blockchain as solely being beneficial in the

banking sector or for digital payments. There’s a lot more to it than
that, of course.

It may be useful for voting processes, supply chain management,

regulatory compliance, auditing, IoT operating systems, and many
other applications.

And please allow me to divulge a few secrets to you.

The vast majority of IT behemoths have begun to create blockchain-

related technology. Furthermore, most organizations have started
to pay more for web3 engineers.

In a word, if you’re a web developer, you can learn about blockchain

technology rapidly and utilize it to generate more money.
16. Write technical content-related books

I recently chatted with Lucas after one of my friends mentioned him

to me. He is a professional developer who works largely for a major
French firm.

And, as a result of his understanding, he attempts to develop ebooks

and sell them online. In the beginning, he thought of it as a side job.

His earnings skyrocketed shortly after releasing his tenth book. He

is normally paid once a month by Amazon. He also informed me that
his book was now available on Kindle. He will be able to earn more
money as a consequence.

I prodded him for further details. Could you perhaps elaborate on

the challenges you’ve encountered? So he informed me that when I
first started writing books, I attempted names like Introduction to
Python and Getting Started with React.

However, there are numerous books nearby. As a result, I am unable

to work. More specifically, as seen by the number of such
publications on Amazon, anybody may create such books.

So you want to know what I’ve done now? Simply put, I endeavored
to write short books using the knowledge I possessed. It went off
without a hitch.
Let's Wrap Up

I recognize that most of us will not be able to produce money from

all of the side hustles I listed. Try starting with one and then on to
others.

And, as I’ve shown in certain instances, you must believe that

earning is achievable.

That’s it — thanks.

I hope to see you again.
